Bethlehem Steel FC Head Coach Brendan Burke

On reaction to the game
Yeah, we prepared be countered, for them to defend the whole time and hit us with a little bit of pace,
and they did it three times so we failed; period, end of story.

On challenge of continuing to hit reset button each week
Yeah absolutely, and the referee absolutely murdered us in the first half, missing two maybe three
penalties – two clear cut penalties – and those were in the first fifteen-twenty minutes of the game.
So, James O’Connor went off about the state of refereeing in this league last night for Louisville
and he was justified, I watched his game last night. Jason (Bent) got thrown out of the game, and
he won the game today. It’s disgusting, and it’s the third week in a row that we’ve had to deal
with it. It’s not home, we’re not at home.

On breakdown of the goals Steel FC allowed
Yeah, there were multiple breakdowns, but it all resulted from transitional play and that’s all
we talked about all week so we’ll have to look at how we communicate that with everyone, because
that message wasn’t received by a couple people.

On team’s play as a whole + miscommunication discussed in the previous response
I think some of it is the message, some of it is… you know the turnover doesn’t help, but we can’t
make excuses, that’s our 20th lineup in 21 games. There’s zero continuity and it shows at times,
but that’s on our core guys and the guys that are with us every day to carry that burden and it’s
a big burden. It’s a difficult thing to do, today we didn’t do it well, and that starts with me,
no one else but me. I’m guttered, I couldn’t be more disappointed to lose to that team twice, and
that’s not to discredit Toronto, I just feel like we had the pieces to beat them twice.

On consolation of offensive pace picking up
No, no you’re at home, you have to win.

Bethlehem Steel FC Captain Ryan Richter

On the overall game
Very disappointed, yeah we definitely needed this one. It’s a tough one to drop points in.

On trying to bounce back
I think we conceded three tough goals on the counter kind of and it’s the reality of our game.
If you give guys chances they score goals. While we created more chances through the game,
I’m pretty sure that’s safe to say, but if you give chances, sometimes they take them, sometimes
they don’t. In this case they took their chances and they won the game.

On motivating guys again
I feel like in this one, there isn’t much to be said. It wasn’t a lack of desire, or a lack
of effort for any player on the field. It was just a couple mental lapses, so it’s just frustrating.
We take tonight, the mistakes that we made and you the things that we did well, and go back to the
video of it, and look it both of those things and try to correct the mistakes, and build on the
positives. There were definitely positives from the game today but yeah overall it feels like
a pretty tough result so there’s not really much to say about it.

Bethlehem Steel FC Defender Nick Bibbs

On his first ever USL goal
Yeah, my first professional in the US. Yeah, especially in the last the few trainings, I have
been getting in the box more and more and I have been finishing a few headers here and there.
When we get those opportunities to go forward, I can see if I can get a head on it.

On trying to bounce back for the next game
It’s tough, these are games we need to win, we are right at that line for a playoff spot.
Especially the teams under us, we got to put them away. You know, going down a goal early
doesn’t help us. So we got to make sure we get off to better starts.
We just have to be intent and we just have to keep pushing each other. It’s got to be better
we got to win games. It’s no more just getting off with ties; we have to win games now.
So that’s what we got to do and it all starts at training.

On playing as a team
It’s tough but I think the most important thing is for every guy int hat locker room to stay
positive. We are still in the playoff race, I mean its one game. It’s a long season,
so we just move on to the next one.
