Bethlehem Steel FC fall 3-2 to Toronto FC II By Mihir Pandya, 07/31/16, 6:45PM EDT Steel FC fall again to Toronto FC II with the score line of 3-2 Bethlehem, PA. (July 31, 2016) – Bethlehem Steel FC took on Toronto FC II to earn more points after a 1-1 tie against Rochester last Sunday. The game kicked off at 4 p.m. on a humid Sunday evening at Goodman Stadium. Steel FC were attacking from the very first kick. Knowing of the height advantage they had over Toronto FC II team, Steel FC crossed the ball into the box on numerous occasions in the first 10 minutes. The first real chance of the game came when Shaan Hundal picked up the ball in the midfield and dribbled around Anderson to take Samir Badr one-on-one. Hundal chose to go low and the ball rolled underneath Badr to open up the scoring in the 17th minute. Seku Conneh saw a chance in the 26th minute when Gabe Gissie crossed a grounder across the box. Conneh shot first time but his ball rose too much and missed over the bar. Toronto maintained the lead through the first half hour of the game. Conneh again received a chance in the 32nd minute after James Chambers was fouled outside the box. Conneh stepped up to take the free kick and his curling effort was just wide of near post. Score remained 1-0 at the half. Steel FC came out firing as they put a few chances in the first five minutes of the half. After Steel FC won a free kick on the left flank, Ryan Richter stepped up and crossed a nice ball into the box where defender Nick Bibbs headed a monsterous effort into the back of the net to score his first ever USL goal. The score was now 1-1. Steel FC kept the intensity up as Cory Burke broke through the defence just a few minutes later. He dribbled past three defeners and squared it to the oncoming Fred da Silva. Fred’s chipped effort went just wide of far post. The scored remained tied up. Hundal sprung back into action at the hour mark of the game, as he headed home a cross from the right flank. Toronto grabbed the lead again through Hundal. 2-1. Toronto’s Luco Uccello put in a rebound effort into an open net to put in a third for Toronto in the 78th minute. Just a few minutes later Joshua Heard was brought down inside the box and a penalty was awarded to Steel FC. Wesley Charpie was then shown a straight red after he disagreed with the call and made contact with the ref. Captain Richter stepped and hit the ball straight to the keeper but he got his own rebound and smashed it into the back of the net. Thegame was back on as the score was now 3-2. Toronto FC II did just enough to keep Steel FC out of their goal in the last five minutes of added to hold on for three points. Final score was 3-2.
