Attendance was not announced but I'd estimate about 500 on this rather cold spring late afternoon. Talks to immediately expand the stadium seating after last week's opening game sellout of 1200 will certainly be curtailed for now. The supporters' groups with their flags and drums were missing today. Meanwhile Cincinnati made USL history last week by drawing 20,497 at their Nippert Stadium and have suddenly joined the MLS expansion speculation conversation.

Best non-scoring chance of the game was at 82 minutes with TFC Raheem Edwards on the left passing forward for TFC Sal Bernal who chested down the ball inside the box and blasted a shot from 12 yards that goalie FCC Mitch Hildebrandt flew over at 4 yards to palm up and to the right and TFC Bubacarr Jobe flew forward and headed a 6 yarder at a sharp angle which the goalie who had stood back up, reached back and caught the ball with stiff arms and swung around to show he'd kept the it from crossing the line. He may have made save-of-the-week on that play robbing Jobe of goal-of-the-week. The ball was immediately sent down the field and Cummings who'd only been subbed on two minutes earlier scored FCC's winning goal.

Referee David Barrie gave out no cards today in a game that never got rough with almost no sliding tackles.

TFC II announced a loan-down of some more MLS team players. Joining TFC II team to get some playing time were goalie Quillan Roberts, defender Ashtone Morgan, midfielder Jay Chapman who all started today and forward Jordan Hamilton who was subbed in at 61 minutes. These players join defender Nick Hagglund (who is from Cincinnati) and midfielder/captain Chris Mannella who both played the full 90 minutes today, and unused (or returned to MLS) goalie Alex Bono, defenders Eriqu Zavaleta and Mark Bloom, and forward Molham Babouli. Easiest way to tell if a player is signed to the MLS team is if their jersey number is less than '30' (except Quillan Roberts who is '40').

I didn't know how the MLS team's dump of players would upset the cohesion of last week's team but sixteen year old Shaan Hundal held on to his starter's position at forward until subbed off for Jordan Hamilton.

FC Cincinnati is an expansion franchise this year in the USL. They have a few former MLS players including the two goalscorers today. Andrew Wiedeman played for TFC's MLS team between 2012 to 2014 then NASL Ottawa Fury in 2015. Omar Cummings played for MLS Colorado and Houston between 2007 and 2014 before playing for NASL San Antonio last year. He was a Jamaican International between 2008 and 2012 and scored against Canada in a World Cup Qualifier in 2008. Corben Bone and team captain Austin Berry both spent seasons with MLS Chicago.

Goalie Mitch Hildebrandt's name sounded familiar to me and I looked back at old notes and found out he played for PDL Michigan Bucks and earned a shutout against Toronto Lynx in 2011.

This the first loss of the season for TFC II. There record is 1 win, 1 loss, and 2 ties. Cincinnati improves to 3 wins, 2 losses, 0 ties.

One thing about coming through the gates too early is I didn't get a souvenir TFC II backpack. Many in the crowd were given last week's game sheet as it had pictures of the TFC II players but the Pittsburgh lineup. I got 'today's game sheet'.

The sound system worked good today and all announcements could be heard. The scoreboard was visible with clouds blocking last week's blinding sun. Only complaint from me is the wind blew the smog of the food trucks into my section of the stands the entire game.

TFC II plays away next Saturday against Richmond then has their next home game Wednesday May 4th against Louisville City FC at 7:30pm.
