WFC2 draw 1-1 against Toronto FC II as preseason preparations continue

BURNABY, BC – Whitecaps FC 2 (WFC2) continued their preseason on Sunday with their first 
friendly match against USL opposition. The ‘Caps took on Canadian rivals Toronto FC II 
at Simon Fraser University, battling to a 1-1 draw.

Head coach Alan Koch fielded a lineup with seven Canadians included. The lineup also 
featured four first team players, including first round SuperDraft pick Cole Seiler, 
and midfielders Erik Hurtado, Nicolas Mezquida, and Marco Bustos.
  
After a scoreless first half, WFC2 broke the deadlock shortly into the second half. 
Striker Daniel Haber scored his third goal of preseason, ripping a curling shot from 
the right side of the box for a 1-0 lead.

As the rain came down the match went back and forth before the visitors found an equalizer 
on a scramble in the box as Darius Madison volleyed it in minutes before the final whistle.

The end of the match confirmed a 1-1 draw as the ‘Caps moved to 3W-0L-1D in preseason.
 
The 'Caps open their 2016 USL season on Saturday, March 26 on the road against 
Orange County Blues FC. The team hosts their home opener on Sunday, April 10 
at Thunderbird Stadium against Sacramento Republic FC. Ticket information is available

WFC2 are back in preseason action on Wednesday when they take on the Fraser Valley Soccer 
League All-Stars at Port Moody Town Centre. Kickoff will be at 8 p.m. PT.
