Windsor TFC Stars welcomed North Toronto Nitros to the southernmost city in Canada
on Friday night with a resounding 4-1 win over their east division counterparts.

Ciprian Codea (16'), Jumbo Iyowuna (32'), Christian Dragoi (37')
and Celso Carapau (43') gave the home side a dream first half with successive
goals that effectively ended the contest.

North Toronto's Killian Elkinson (55') got one back for the Nitros - the only
goal of the second half - but it was too little too late.

"The only thing I can say is when you look at how we performed in the first
half compared to how we performed in the second half you can see how detrimental
the four hour trip down here was," said North Toronto head coach, Hermann Kingue.
"The difference between the two halves was just day and night."

"I didn't like the fact that we actually lost the second half, but I didn't
want to change what we had done tactically in the first half," said Windsor
technical director, Vancho Cirovski.

"That was a mistake. What we should have done was gone to a stronger defensive
posture, just knowing that they were going to come at us. We didn't have
to stay the same way. That was a coaching error so I'll take that."

The Windsor side featured several recognizable names, including Mike Pio,
Jamar Kelly and Christian Dragoi, who had been playing in the NPSL
for Detroit City earlier in the season.

"He's a veteran and he's been our leader," said Cirovski. "Don't forget,
he's not from Detroit City, he is from Windsor TFC Stars because we let
them have him for the early part of the season, and then we take him back
for the latter part of the season."

"Danny is or guy and he's been here for the last three years. It's always
great to see him come on in August as we lose some of those kids,
and he is a terrific player. He sees the game, he's a veteran,
he's technically skilled and he makes everybody around him much better."

As happy as Cirovski was with the result, he had cautionary words for
this team ahead of a matchup with affiliates Toronto FC Academy
next weekend.

"It felt good to have some horses in there today, but you know what
we need to be better next weekend against TFC Academy," said Cirovski.
"That is not only a young, talented team, but they're going to be fit
as hell and they're going to go for ninety minutes."

"We can't have this kind of performance today, we need to be high
for the whole time."
