After a tight match between two very evenly-matched sides, Kingston Clippers
sunk the visiting Windsor Stars 2-1.

Andrew Martin (25') opened the scoring for Kingston, and teammate
Patrick Van Belleghem (70') added to it mid-way through the second half.

"Windsor is a good side," said Kingston head coach, Christian Hoefler.
"They definitely are always intense, they have great ability, they're
a very attack-minded side, but at the same our guys stuck to the plan
and buried two very quality goals."

"They ensured that we had a victory today so I was very proud of the players,
I give them a lot of credit, but this took a week of work," he added.
"We really focused this week coming off a loss to London, we really wanted
the win, and we came through."

Windsor technical director Vancho Cirovski was happy with the play
of the Stars, and felt they were victim to some bad luck. Noah Pio (82')
grabbed a late marker but it was too little, too late.

"I thought we really played well today, was very happy with how the
team moved," he said. "Andrew Martin had a very good game for Kingston,
created a couple of chances that allowed Kingston to score early.
Otherwise I thought we dominated the game but unfortunately didn't finish
a large number of chances."

"There were seven shots put off the post today, and I think we had the
majority of them. I'm pleased with the effort and the way the guys played
in spite of the result."

Kingston occupies fourth position in the east division, on 18 points
after 11 matches. The Clippers are home at Tindall Field, Queen's University
again on July 17 (5 p.m.), hosting Oakville Blue Devils.

Windsor Stars are fourth in the west division with 16 points
from 12 matches. The Stars play Masters FA Saints on July 16 (5 p.m.)
at the Ontario Soccer Centre.
