Masters FA Saints defeated Toronto Skillz 3-1 in the second round of the L1 Cup
and will move on to play Vaughan Azzurri in the semi-final.

The Saints Jelani Grant (11') was the first to get on the board, before
Tyrell Rayne (21', 70') eventually finished a brace to clinch the result.

Jelani Grant was dismissed in the sixty-third minute, leaving the home team
on ten men and opportunity for Toronto Skillz to get back into the contest.

The Skillz' Mitchell Wong (69') briefly brought the away side back into the
picture late on, but it was cancelled out by Rayne's second on the day
only sixty seconds later.

"It's a mental thing in a young team sometimes where they have difficulty
to compose themselves and not give away anything in those crucial five
minutes after you've scored," said Toronto Skillz head coach,
Leslie "Tiger" Fitzpatrick.

"We got in at half-time and talked about how we were creating a lot
of chances and dictating much of the game but we have to put the ball
in the back of the net," he added. "We saw it in the second half when
had much of the flow of the match, and put the ball in, but then to give
up a goal within sixty seconds - that set us off."

In a very even match, it was these small moments of focus - or lack
thereof - that ultimately separated the sides.

"Our main goal today was to make sure we won the game, that we didn't
lose the game - that is to say, to make sure "we" didn't cause
ourselves to lose," said Masters technical director, Junior Groves.
"You could see that psychology in play today."

"When they scored, you could see our players have a word with each
other and say no, we need to do something to win the game. And,
psychologically, it is when the team that scored is weakest, they
are taking the opportunity to rest. We went at them then, and
we were successful because of it."
