The contest between North Miss and North Toronto Nitros did not
disappoint as these two pacey, talented 2016 expansion teams battled
to a fever pitch and ultimately shared the points following
a 2-2 draw.

North Toronto's Abdallah Elchanti (21') opened the scoring
on the day, smoothly sending the keeper the wrong way
before slotting.

North Mississauga's Jose Melo (37') levelled the score shortly
thereafter, but with both sides charging into tackles and
leaving nothing between them - tempers began to flare.
North Mississauga's Alva (64') received his marching orders
with under a half hour left in the match, and the hosts were
forced to carry on with ten men.

However, only ten minutes after coming on, North Miss forward
Bradley Fenton (77') took matters into his own hands and
grabbed the breakthrough goal after a tidy wall-pass inside
the box.

The stage was set for an epic finale, and North Toronto's
Niba MacDonald proved equal to the task when he finished
off a penalty with only a couple minutes remaining. At the
final whistle, emotions were again evident as both sides
had expended everything in this invigorating battle that
would have greatly pleased the neutrals in attendance.

"I think our biggest problem was something that has been
our biggest problem for most of the season, which
is finishing," said North Toronto assistant coach,
Ilya Orlov. "We had the chances to put the game away,
since we were a man up, but we haven't done it and
we made a mistake at the back."

"It was the same thing as last week and they finished
it off [tonight]. We did get an equalizer, but again
it felt more like a loss, like last week."

"We didn’t lose, which was good," said North Miss
head coach, Rick Titus. "We got a point out
of the game."

"And we are going to continue to build, grow and
working on the areas of our game that we need
to improve."
