Stephen Lamanna (3', 10') led the way with two early goals for Durham United FA
as they moved into second place in the Eastern Conference table following a 2-0
win over Woodbridge Strikers.

"We scored our first win against them, that's what most important to me,"
said Durham head coach, Sanford Carabin.

"Regardless if this was their first loss of the season, we played them well
the last two years and we've been unlucky. So its nice to get a victory
at this ground. It's a tough place to come and play. We know Woodbridge
is always a very organized team, especially defensively."

Durham net-minder Ben Cowman kept the clean sheet, and Woodbridge's
Oscar Cordon was dismissed with just under half an hour remaining.

"I think [Durham] played well," said Woodbridge head coach, Peter Pinizzotto.
"Didn't help playing with a man down. We had our chances. We had two great
chances in the first half, both missed. Missed a penalty shot. [Durham]
scored on their chances and we didn't score on ours."

"But at the end of the day, you just have to think about next game and
hopefully we will have a better result."

Lamanna pointed to weather conditions and the positive start his team
made to create chances and score early goals.

"We wanted to start with the wind at our the back in the first half and
we wanted to start strong, and we did," he said. "Luckily enough because
we needed that lead in the second half or else they are gaining momentum
with the wind."

"It was a huge win for us, hopefully it gets us more recognition across
the league and really proves everybody what we're about at Durham United."

Durham and Woodbridge currently sit neck and neck on points in second
place in the East, but Durham claims the advantage of the better record
in head-to-head play. Both sides will play cross-over matches with
West Conference teams in matchweek eight.

Durham United FA plays Toronto FC Academy on Sunday June 19 (1 p.m.)
at Kia Training Ground.

Woodbridge Strikers have a difficult away fixture in matchweek eight,
playing FC London on June 17 (7:30 p.m.) at German Canadian FC
Stadium Field ("The Cove").
