Stefan Milidrag (43') got the Windsor Stars on the board first at this L1 Cup
first round date with Toronto Skillz, but despite a sending off
to TSkillz Deven Doodnath (65') it was the team with ten men that would
emerge victorious at the whistle after second half strikes by Wei Su (48')
and Sameer Fathazada (61').

"We simply didn't finish the chances early to put them away,
to demoralize them," said the Stars' technical director, Vancho Cirovski.

Toronto Skillz head coach Leslie "Tiger" Fitzpatrick was happy with the
response of his team to five straight losses, and praised their attacking
mentality in creating a second half comeback.

"I said to the boys this week that we've been going pretty conservative
to feel ourselves out, and to feel out this league as well, but in the
last few sessions and in preseason we went to this formation to try and
dominate the midfield," he said.

"We were still leaking goals playing conservatively so I just thought
let's just go for it and see what happens. Obviously it is a bit
of an adjustment for the players but they battled. They gave up another
goal on a counter, which was a little disappointing, but they should
be congratulated for showing the heart and resolve to come back
in this situation."

On the other hand, Cirovski was unhappy with his team's second half
display, pointing to some crucial drops in concentration as the
reasons for the loss.

"We let them off the hook because this is a fairly new makeup of a team
for this particular game and we had some chances go begging
to be finished," he said.

"Secondly, in the second half there was one technical error which
involved the keeper dropping the ball and we were punished for that."

"Of course there was a mental error as well when we gave away a ball
in the back, which of course you will get punished for, he added.
"Once the other team gets energy and momentum, it is hard to come back."

"But no excuses, there is not a huge degree of difference between
the teams in this league and when you have a chance to put a team
away you have to do that or they will get you."

Toronto Skillz will now move on to the second round to play
Master's FA Saints on June 21 at L'Amoreaux Park, 6:30 p.m.
