Toronto FC II announced Wednesday that the club has signed senior academy player Martin Davis
to a USL contract.

As per policy of Toronto FC, details of the contract have not been announced. A Jamaican national,
Davis has represented Jamaica at the U-17 and U-20 levels. Davis will be added to the roster
upon receipt of his International Transfer Certificate (ITC).

“Martin took a big step last season when he left his home country of Jamaica for Toronto
leaving his family and friends to test himself and continue his development as a footballer,”
said Toronto FC II Head Coach Jason Bent.

“This will be a good measuring tool for Martin to see how his development has progressed.
Splitting time between our PDL and League1 Ontario team, as well as appearing in a few matches
for Toronto FC II, has helped him get stronger and adjust to the power and pace of the
North American game.”

Davis made an impact in his 2015 League1 Ontario campaign for Toronto FC Senior Academy,
playing a big part in the club's late season surge and scoring five goals.

"Martin's first look with [TFC] was with the USL squad, where he spent a fair bit of time,"
said Stuart Neely, Senior Academy and PDL head coach.

"The training environment was quite a bit different here from what he was used to, and
he was away from home, so the adjustment took some time. We felt we were getting him ready
for this year's USL season.

His September 5th solo effort in the 4-2 away win over Durham United - a move in which
he beat four opponents and the goalkeeper (twice) - was a contender for goal of the season.

In a September 27 home performance against eventual champions Oakville Blue Devils, featuring
a goal and an assist during the Reds 2-0 win, Davis again demonstrated a remarkable set
of predatory attacking instincts.

"I think over the course of the League1 season he slowly adjusted, and we used a lot
of Martin's strengths - talent and creativity on the ball - in the final third," said Neely.

"He always wants to learn, and he has some special footballing talent. We wish him all
the best with the USL this season. For us, it's all about the movement of players within
our organization so they can get their shot."

Davis, 19, appeared in two matches, starting in one, while logging 68 minutes during
the 2015 USL regular season for Toronto FC II as a call up from the Kia Toronto FC Senior
Academy team. He made his first professional start on April 19 against Whitecaps FC 2
and his professional debut on March 28 against FC Montreal. Davis originally joined the
Kia Toronto FC Academy in January 2015.
