Match Preview: TFC II Finish Up Regular Season vs. the Rhinos The squad travels to Rochester for their final match of the regular season September 22, 2015 Anthony Campos torontofc.ca Toronto FC II finish out their inaugural USL season against the 2015 Regular Season Champions the Rochester Rhinos, this Saturday at 7:05PM ET. The young Reds are coming off a 2-2 draw against Wilmington Hammerheads FC this past weekend that saw midfielder Sal Bernal score a brace, his first professional goal and first two-goal game for the squad in the USL. This match against the Rhinos was originally scheduled for September 12th but was postponed due to weather. The Opposition The young Reds are in tough against the 2015 USL Regular Season Champions. The Rhinos have gone undefeated at home and has only lost one match all season – a 4-2 defeat against the Charlotte Independence. Rochester’s stingy defense has been the backbone of their regular season dominance. The Rhinos have allowed a mere 15 goals in 27 matches. To put things into perspective, the team with the second least goals allowed in the East is the Charleston Battery with 28 – nearly double the amount that Rochester has allowed. Moreover, goalkeeper Brandon Miller set the USL single season shutout record with his 12th against the Richmond Kickers on September 5th. Expect Head Coach Bob Lilley to field a strong lineup in preparation for their playoff match on October 3rd against the winner of Saturday’s first round matchup between New York Red Bulls II and the Pittsburgh Riverhounds. Players to Watch Steevan “Duba” Dos Santos and Christian Volesky share the team lead in goals with eight each. Dos Santos had the opener in Rochester’s 2-0 win over TFC II in their most recent meeting on July 11th. Onua Obasi caused TFC II all kinds of problems down the left flank in the aforementioned match and assisted on both goals in Rochester’s win. TFC II take on the Rochester Rhinos this Thursday, September 24th at Sahlen’s Stadium in Rochester at 7:05PM ET.
