Hammerheads Prepare to Close Out USL Season WILvTOR-Prev Wilmington, NC – Wilmington Hammerheads FC will play their final match of the 2015 USL regular season on Saturday at Legion Stadium versus Toronto FC II. Wilmington and Toronto currently hold the bottom two positions in the Eastern Conference table. Wilmington, with a current overall record of 3-15-9 leading into their last match, will secure last place in the standings even if they claim a home victory on Saturday night. The Hammerheads enter their last match following a recent announcement that Carson Porter will be stepping down from his position as head coach at the conclusion of the season. His decision comes after leading the team for one season. “When I signed on and joined this club I committed everything I had to it knowing that results with the first team, before any other measure, would be what I was judged on,” said Porter in a formal announcement released by Wilmington Hammerheads FC on Thursday. “We did not get the results – no excuses, plain and simple.” Toronto (6-16-4) will have one more match to play on the road against the Rochester Rhinos before finishing their season on Thursday, September 24. Saturday’s game is set to kick off at 7:00 p.m. ET and will be streamed live via Wilmington Hammerheads FC’s YouTube channel. Tickets are available for purchase online.
