Two second half goals propelled New York Red Bulls II to a 2-0 victory against Toronto FC II
at the Ontario Soccer Centre on Saturday.

It was the second straight 2-0 defeat for the young Reds following their loss against the
Harrisburg City Islanders on Wednesday.

With the loss TFC II’s record falls to 5-14-3 and extends their losing streak to two matches.

With the win Red Bulls II snap a three-game winless streak and put themselves in a three-way tie
for third in the Eastern Conference with the Richmond Kickers and the Charleston Battery.

TFC II has struggled to create chances for most part of the season but over the last few matches
the squad has produced countless opportunities. Still, the final finish is lacking.

If it were not for New York Red Bulls II goalkeeper Santiago Castano TFC II might have been
up two goals in the first half.

Early on in the match Jay Chapman played a perfectly weighted pass through to Raheem Edwards
but Castano was able to come out and stand tall, making the save on Edwards’ attempted chip.

Castano followed up eleven minutes later with a diving save on Mo Babouli to keep the
match scoreless.

TFC II’s inability to capitalize on scoring chances came back to haunt them as Red Bulls II
opened up the scoring two minutes into the second half.

Second half substitute Bolu Akinyode had an immediate impact, putting in a great cross that
was headered home by Stefano Bonomo.

New York added to their lead in the 78th minute. Jay Chapman was called for a foul and NYRB II
took advantage with a quickly taken free kick that caught TFC II off guard.

Devon Williams picked up the free kick and fired a shot that was deflected on its way on target
past Quillan Roberts to double New York’s lead.

Toronto’s comeback took a hit when defender Adam Bouchard was sent off after receiving his
second yellow card in the 80th minute.

In the end Castano recorded a shutout and the visitors came away with the three points.

Toronto’s next match comes on Sunday, August 30th against the Charlotte Independence at the
Ontario Soccer Centre. Kick-off is set for 3PM ET.
