Kia Academy Success Stories Many Academy players made their debut with TFC II in July August 1, 2015 Toronto FC Staff torontofc.ca Throughout the month of July many Academy athletes made their debut with Toronto FC II. Malik Johnson started in the match versus Pittsburgh Riverhounds on July 8th playing 70 minutes and appeared in each of the subsequent four other matches in July. Gabby Boakye also made his first appearance in the starting eleven versus Pittsburgh Riverhounds on July 8th. Kevin Timachy came on in the 65th minute versus Rochester Rhinos on July 11th and came on as a substitute in each of the next three matches in July. The final player to make his debut in a USL match was Nicholas Osorio on July 18th versus Saint Louis FC, who entered in the 79th minute. Additionally Phil Di Bennardo, Brogan Engbers, and Robert Boskovic all made their TFC II debut versus AS Roma Primavera on July 28th. Phil Di Bennardo started in goal, while Brogan Engbers substituted in for him at the beginning of the second half. Robert Boskovic was also subbed on to begin the second half making his TFC II debut. Toronto FC II player and Academy graduate Quillan Roberts was named to the Week 19 USL Team of the Week after an 8 save shutout performance that allowed TFC II to earn a 1-0 win versus Charleston Battery on Friday, July 24th. Furthermore, Roberts came in second place in the vote for USL Player of the Week with 33 percent of the vote.
