July 14, 2015 Toronto FC II--Q & A with Skylar Thomas (from torontofc.ca)
Getting to know Skylar Thomas Q&A with the 11th overall pick in the 2015 MLS SuperDraft July 14, 2015 Anthony Campos torontofc.ca We sat down with the Pickering native to chat about his game day preparations and his greatest soccer achievement. Q: Describe yourself on the pitch vs. off the pitch? On the field I think I’m a vocal leader. I’m a ball winner. I enjoy tackling strikers and physically imposing myself on the other team. It’s funny because off the field I think I’m more of a quiet guy. I’m kind of calm and relaxed person. Q: What are some things you like to do on your downtime? Right now I usually play cards with my roommates. I read a bit and also like to play video games. Q: What player do you like to emulate your game off of? I like to watch Vincent Kompany. He’s a real aggressive, strong centre back and he’s good with his feet as well. Q: Favourite soccer team? Arsenal. Q: Favourite player? Loving Arsenal back in the day I would say Thierry Henry. Q: How do you prepare for match day? I’m a sleeper that’s for sure. I go to bed early the night before, wake up, eat breakfast, go for a little run to kind of stretch my legs and then I go right back to bed. Q: Favourite spot in the city? I got love for Pickering. I’m not too much of a city guy. I kind of like the outskirts of the city so I think my favourite spot would have to be Island Mix in Pickering. Q: What is one or some of your greatest soccer achievements? Getting drafted by Toronto FC, my hometown, was a pretty big achievement for myself. Coming to Syracuse University, graduating and going through the draft was a great feeling. Skylar was selected 11th overall in the 2015 MLS SuperDraft by Toronto FC. Q: If you weren’t playing soccer what would you be doing? I feel like I would be somewhere in athletics, maybe in different sport like basketball or maybe even volleyball.
