Halftime Entertainment: There's a t-shirt toss with some of the t-shirts having a message to trade them for a game worn jersey. There's a Pizza Pizza giveaway, Autograph Alley invites, and Drumsticks ice cream giveaway. There's a mini-game with contestants wearing soccer ball body suits that covered them from the waist up. This was called the KIA Knockout challenge and was played like musical chairs with always one less soccer ball in the center circle than number of players. There's also a video tribute to us by TFC players--however not their biggest stars.

Attendance was announced as 24253. The weather was 'chilly' but not as bad as I expected. The sun was bright for some of the game and hidden behind dark clouds the rest. We early arriving fans were given a touque from team sponsor KIA Motors. I wore mine right away!
Man of the Match (who is always a TFC player) was announced as defender Josh Williams. There weren't any real stars on TFC today so might as well give it to one of the a defenders as they did keep the score down.
This game pitted the MLS's two leading scorers TFC's Sebastian Giovinco and Crew's Kei Kamara who are tied for goals with 22 each although Giovinco holds a big assist advantage at 15 to 8. Both strikers were well marked with neither getting great shots except Giovinco's freekick at 62 minutes. Giovinco had too much power on his crosses as he frequently sent them over the box on open play and corner kicks.
TFC Micheal Bradley was supposed to be suffering a groin strain and wasn't listed in the projected staring lineup but played all 90 minutes in an advanced midfielder's role--in fact he was right up there with Giovinco.
TFC were missing Jonathan Osorio from injury (although it wasn't said for what) and Jozy Altidore who was Red carded in the last game from the bench. I could see him either starting or replacing Robbie Findley at 64 minutes instead of either Luke Moore or Herculez Gomez.
Joe Bendik was the starting goalie for TFC for the first time in months and couldn't be blamed for either goal. It probable made sense to use him now rather than let him sit and have to come in cold if there was a playoff injury to Chris Konopka.
Crew Kei Kamara was bumped around all game by Jackson. Kamara drew a Yellow in frustration at 62 minutes for pushing Jackson over. With Yellow card accumulation he will not play in their last scheduled game and will not win the scoring title. Crew Federico Higuain also will miss their next game with Yellow card accumulation.
The Crew played the last twenty minutes keep on protecting their lead. They conceded freekicks and Yellow cards for time wasting and holding onto Giovinco but were efficient. The Crew needed at least a tie to guarantee a playoff spot.
Crew Steve Clark earned the shutout for the Crew. He made some key catches of shot and crosses betweeen and in front of crowds of players.
TFC had flipped from fifth to second place with their franchise setting fourth win in a row on Wednesday night which included passing the Crew by two points uning up their last game in hand. Now Crew pass TFC plus possibly other teams tonight and tomorrow.
TFC finishes their regular season schedule against Montreal Impact who are still wairing to clinch a playoff spot in a fight with Orlando City who closed to within one point. TFC's slight chance of winning the Supporter's Shield and finishing first in the Eastern Conference ended with today's loss.
The Crew won the Trillium Cup for their season record against TFC with 2 wins and 1 tie. I've heard fans don't care about this but it was instituted early in TFRC history to try to begin a rivalry. I only heard that TFC would be presented with the trophyt if they won by two goals but I din't notice the Crew presented with the trophy nor any Crew travelling fans.
The Blue Jays game started at 4:00pm and they were out of town. MLSE (owners of TFC) offered admission to their AHL hockey team Toronto Marlboros for 'only' $15 but that game started at 3:00pm so it would be at least 1/3 over--but missing that much of a game doesn't seem to bother late arriving TFC fans.
TFC players didn't walk a lap around the field like they do each season's final game. They made the playoffs but may not get a home game. They just saluted the south side supporter stands. Our center line section was half empty by then.
TFC season ticket renewal package came last night and my section had its prices raised by only about 10% although I buy early to save even more. Also the price to finish this season's play offs were reasonable for two games and refundable too.
The subway wasn't running again on Yonge Street which meant detours for me but I'd read about it more than a week ago so I planned my route.
