Strikers went up 1-0 early against Durham United FC courtesy of a Jesse Andoh strike (3'), and midfielder 
Victor Munoz (31') buried a penalty to give the visitors a comfortable lead just after the half hour, before 
the Strikers' league leading defence slammed the door shut to preserve a confident 2-0 away result until 
the final whistle.

"In the attacking third we lost too many balls with not many good decisions," said Woodbridge head coach, 
Peter Pinizzotto. "Once again the defence played a solid game, not giving too many scoring opportunities 
to Durham's attacking players."

"Woodbridge's strength all year has been there defence and no surprise they were solid again tonight," 
confirmed Durham head coach, Sanford Carabin.

"Their back four, especially, were well organized and gave nothing away. It's the toughest back four 
we've faced all year and couldn't break them down."

Anchored by the steadiness of goalkeeper Matt George, Woodbridge saw out a match characterized by Durham's 
determination and relentlessness in attack. 

"I thought our whole team put in a great effort tonight," said Carabin. "The boys worked tirelessly in all 
phases of the game and two lapses in concentration cost us. Key moment was conceding a needless penalty 
that made the game 2-0. We knew how Woodbridge were going to play but just couldn't create anything 
in the final third to threaten them."

As the second place team in the men's division, Pinizzotto's Strikers remain the only team still capable 
of threatening Oakville Blue Devils in the hunt for the 2015 League1 Ontario title. However, Oakville 
still have control of the outcome, as a win on Sunday October 3 vs. ninth place Pro Stars would clinch 
the title for the Devils. 

"We are happy with the end result, which gives us a small hope to win the league," said Pinizzotto.

"This has been a great season for our players and the club to be able to still play late in the season 
for the top prize. I am very proud of what these players have accomplished this season regardless 
of the end result."

Durham concludes their season in seventh place with 36 points, a win-draw-loss record of 11-3-8, 
and 44 goals for and only 22 goals against.

Durham's solid defensive organization provided the basis for the club to finish joint-third in the 
league for goals against. 

Woodbridge Strikers is currently in second position on 46 points, and will await the Oakville result 
on Saturday to determine their final position. The Strikers currently have a record of 15-1-4, 
and 43 goals for and 14 against.

Strikers also have two matches yet to be played, with the first taking place on Sunday October 4 
vs. Toronto FC Academy at Kia Training Grounds, Toronto - 1:45 p.m.
