In the face of a stiff southerly wind, the Windsor Stars and Sigma FC took to the pitch last night for the final
2015 League1 Ontario match at McHugh Soccer Complex, Windsor. The two sides would battle it out to a 0-0 draw
for a single point apiece.

The Stars took the south end of the field to begin the contest and found some difficulty facing the wind.
Much of the play was in the Windsor end with Sigma using the natural elements to their advantage.

In the 33rd minute, the visitors lined up for a free kick from 25 yards out. The ball sailed over the wall
and was curling for the open top corner of the goal, but Windsor keeper Catani fully extended to punch
it away from danger.

The Stars' striker Stefan Milidrag had two chances of his own when he redirected a cross on goal and then,
a minute later, placed a shot that was heading in under the crossbar. In both instances the keeper was
equal to the challenge.

Within a minute of half time, Sigma seemed to have broken the deadlock with a goal from a broken corner kick.
However, the referee's attention was directed to the linesman who was indicating offside, and the tally
was nullified. At the half the teams went to the dressing rooms to warm up tied at naught apiece.

The second half was much like the first, but with the Stars enjoying the wind advantage. Windsor peppered
the Sigma goal with opportunities, including one chance cleared from the line by a defender.

Meanwhile Catani was called upon to stop all forms of attacks on goal, both high and low. He was definitely
a candidate for man of the match.

With minimal time added for stoppages, the two clubs were glad to see the back of the weather. Though Windsor
played better than they have of late, they were still disappointed to settle on a point.

Windsor welcomes Sanjaxx Lions to the Libro Centre in Amherstburg on Wednesday October 18, while Sigma will
finish their season on the road at Country Day School in King City when they take on ANB Futbol
on Saturday October 3 - 7:15 p.m. kickoff.
