With this win over second place Vaughan Azzurri, Sigma F.C. leapfrogged ANB Futbol into fourth place in the table,
making some headway on the team's goal of finishing the season in the top three.

"We were coming into the match with two negative results in the past two weeks, which made this game a very
important one for our group and goal of a top three finish," explained Sigma head coach, Bobby Smyrniotis.
"This is a small piece of pressure on our young team."

"For another match, Marcel Zajac did a good job in the attacking part of the field, constantly being a danger
to the opponents," he continued.

"He scored our first goal, played an important role in our second, and had a great shot off the post in third
minute of play. He was very good in his attacking motions and combination play."

"Nico Correa on the other hand did an excellent job in midfield on a day when one of our leaders [Manny] Morgado
was not available for selction. Correa broke up plays, won his aerial balls, and was excellent in his outlet
passing, never turning the ball over to the opponent - these are many of the characteristics that we look
for in a #6."

Despite a late game comeback effort from Vaughan after goals arrived from Christian Copetti (84')
and Dwayne Ewart (90 + 4'), Sigma came out the gates the strongest with three goals before the 70 minute mark
by Marcel Zajac (48'), Kadell Thomas (59'), and Lucas Ferritto (69').

"Reflecting on the match I am very happy with the performance of the team overall," said Smyrniotis. "There was
a period of ten minutes at the end of each half where we could have been better, especially at the end of the
match as we gave up two late goals with one of the opponent's goals coming on the final whistle right after
we scored a fourth that was deemed off side."

With 39 points in 20 matches, the result leaves Vaughan hanging onto second place by a thread. Third place
Woodbridge Strikers has 37 points in 17 matches, while Sigma now sits on 37 points in 18 matches.

The stage is set for a big battle between Sigma and Oakville this weekend, Saturday September 19
at Hershey Centre, Mississauga - 8 p.m. kickoff.

Vaughan plays Kingston Clippers on Sunday September 20 at McNaughton Turf, Maple - 7 p.m. kickoff.
