August 30, 2015 League 1 Ontario--Oakville Blue Devils vs Windsor Stars (from League 1 Ontario press release)
Oakville Blue Devils 6 - Windsor Stars 0 . Mon Aug 31 Written By: Staff, League1 Felipe Vilela (32', 58', 63') scored three, and teammates Adam Gould (87'), Christian Kusiewicz (75') and Roman Young (76') chipped in with singles, as Oakville Blue Devils completed another commanding performance, this time dismantling Windsor Stars 6-0 at home grounds of Sheridan College in matchweek 18. "A solid all-round performance earned us another valuable three points at Sheridan College stadium," said Oakville head coach, Duncan Wilde. "We now have to take each game as it comes and try to complete the season with maximum points from the remaining games."e Despite the lopsided scoreline, Blue Devils will be relieved that the result did not escape them on a day when their captain Taylor McNamara returned from injury, but was dismissed before the end of the first half. "We were very happy to see our captain, Taylor McNamara, return following injury, only to be disappointed to see him ejected late in the first half," said Wilde. "The team responded perfectly by scoring the opening goal right after that, the first of three goals on the day from leading scorer Filip Vilela. A complete organization and change of system at half time was required and going with two strikers whilst playing a man down caught Windsor on the back foot and led to our second goal from a penalty kick following a foul on Vilela early in the second half. Vilela completed his hatrick by beating three defenders and cheekily chipping the ball into the goal." "An absolute rocket from 30 yards by Roman Young made the score 4-0, Sheridan College's Christian Kusiewicz made it five, and a goal from young Oakville Soccer Club call up, Adam Gould, rounded out a perfect second half for us with a 6-0 victory." Windsor had challenges of their own, struggling to assemble a squad in the lead-up to the match. "Completing our roster was quite the struggle," said Windsor head coach, Shane Topalovic. "Our main guys have all gone back to school and many of our young recruits are injured or unavailable. As a result, we struggled to find any cohesion. We had no answer at all for Felipe Vilela; he scored three goals and was their main attacking threat." "When Oakville had a man sent off, that seemed to really give them a lot more energy and motivated them to play harder," he added. Both teams now look to complete a difficult one month runout to the league season. Windsor returns home to McHugh Stadium, Windsor, on Friday September 4 to host ANB Futbol - 8 p.m. kickoff. With only five matches remaining in their schedule, Oakville will be looking to maintain their position at the top of the table and win the championship in their first League1 Ontario season. Oakville's next match pits them against Master's FA Saints at L'Amoreaux, Scarborough, on Saturday September 5 - 9 p.m. kickoff.
