Clippers took the early lead in Kingston during their battle with league leader's Oakville Blue Devils, but
at the end of ninety minutes it would be 4-3 to the visitors after an entertaining back-and-forth
matchweek 17 contest.

Stalwarts Filepe Vilela (50') and Anthony Doran (18') chipped in to ensure the Devils sustained their
regular goal-scoring record, but it was perhaps the contributions of youngsters Brandon Duarte (87')
and Roman Young (20') that were most welcome to the Devils' technical staff.

"Our priority for this match was to prepare the young academy call up players that we required to cover
for the numerous seniors unavailable for selection," said Oakville head coach, Duncan Wilde. "It would
appear we got that right as both Brandon Duarte and Roman Young scored vital goals during our 4-3 win
at Queens University campus."

Kingston technical staff were also impressed with new additions to their squad, after key members have
departed for university and college.

"After calling up from the local leagues, this match proved that Kingston has some great talent!"
said Clippers technical director, Chris Eveleigh. "Myself and [head coach] Christian Hoefler will
sit down and discuss how we can keep the local talent playing, not only for this season but into next year."

Despite Kingston opening the scoring in the sixth minute through Toni El-Asmar, Oakville added three
in a row by the 50 minute mark, and it appeared the contest was out of reach of the home side. But Kingston
was not done, and Joey Pineo (59') and Joey Nelson (85') ensured the Clippers equalized and prepared
to push on for the win in the final ten minutes - with the aid of a "secret weapon."

"We started quite brightly and had good possession in the early minutes," explained Wilde. "We then lost
our central shape, allowing Kingston space and time for the first real chance of the game, and they took
it with an excellent long range effort into our bottom corner."

"We responded well and created several good opportunities to equalize, before the quick thinking Doran
opened our scoring from a free kick at the edge of the box when Kingston had no time to reset. Roman Young
gave us the lead following great work down the left flank by Tyler Wasson to give him his first goal
in League1 on his debut game."

"A quickly taken set play into the feet of Filipe Vilela saw him turn and finish with a low drive
to give us a 3-1 lead and his 14th goal of the season, but then Kingston then hit us with their
special weapon," he added.

"I have not seen such a powerful long throw since Adrian Serioux did the same for us back in USL Pro,
and then went on to do it in the MLS. The boy throws the ball like a bullet and with great effect.
We simply could not handle it and twice conceded from the same situation to see the game tied with
a couple of minutes to go."

Oakville stretched the width of the pitch in the latter minutes, pressing for the valuable final goal
that would keep them top fo the table. Debutante Brandon Duarte found the net for the visitors,
and Blue Devils were finally able to breathe with relief.

"It was a very competitive battle with a determined Kingston team in their final home game
of their season," concluded Wilde. "And we are extremely happy to gain all three points considering
Kingston's late rally to tie the game."

Kingston Clippers get a week off before going on the road on Sunday September 6 to play
Woodbridge Strikers at Vaughan Grove, Woodbridge - 7 p.m. kickoff.

Oakville Blue Devils head home to Sheridan College, Oakville, on Sunday August 30 to play
