Adonijah Reid (79'), Belrum Vartanian (82') and Daniel Iannacito (30') deposited the goals for ANB,
while Christian Cavallini (90 + 3') got a late marker in consolation for the Woodbridge Strikers,
as ANB solidified fourth place in the League1 Ontario table with a 3-1 win.

"A very disappointing result tonight," said Woodbridge head coach, Peter Pinizzotto. "I thought
we had a few chances to score in the first half, but ANB goalkeeper made some good saves, and they
took advantage to score from a set play."

"All year we have been struggling to score, and I knew that after they scored first that we would
have a hard time coming back. We had a chance to tie the game in the second half on a penalty shot
but their goalkeeper made the save. I thought that was the turning point in the game."

ANB assistant manager Marcelo Almeida also focused on the work of the ANB keeper, Adam Hewitt,
as well as Woodbridge netminder, Matt George.

"Adam Hewitt GK played a very strong game in goal, especially in the second half where he stopped
a PK and resulting rebound, and then assisting with a great throw to set Adonijah Reid free
to score second goal of game," added Almeida.

"Unfortunate to not gain a clean sheet with a last minute PK goal being scored."

"I thought the Woodbridge GK, Matt George, made some early saves to keep his team close, especially
in the first half. He commanded his back line and was able to nullify pressure consistently."

The battle was fought mainly in the midfield, with ANB coming out on top due to their ability
to apply high pressure to their opposite numbers.

"Credit ANB, they did a great job on putting pressure on our midfield players and took advantage
of their chances," said Pinizzotto. "I will give the player of the game to their goalkeeper, making
the big saves when he had to."

"Challenge was to control the midfield throughout the game, which did not happen all the time
as too much time and space was given to the Woodbridge players," said Almeida.

"Some adjustments were made at the half which resulted in a much more controlled second half."

"Key moment was double PK save when ANB were only up 1-0," he added. "That moment changed the game's
momentum as Woodbridge had started applying pressure to get their equalizer."

Woodbridge Strikers head to L'Amoreaux Park, Scarborough, on Saturday August 22 to play
Master's FA Saints - 3 p.m. kickoff.

ANB Futbol is at home on Saturday August 22, playing Vaughan Azzurri at Country Day School,
9 p.m. kickoff.
