Men's golden boot leader, Joey Cicchillo (29', 50'), led the way for Vaughan Azzurri as they went
to Toronto FC Academy's Kia Training Grounds and beat the 2014 League1 Ontario champions by the
comfortable margin of 4-0.

Along with Cicchillo, Tyrone Downes (56') and Matthew Arnone (41') contributed to the score sheet,
and Vaughan assistant manager Patrice Gheisar highlighted Arnone's work on the night.

"Matt Arnone, who is our centre back, was fantastic," said Gheisar. "He also helped out with
a big goal on a set piece as well. He was able to control our defence against a very pacy and
young team."

TFCA head coach Stuart Neely was impressed by Cicchillo, calling him a "crafty player both
attacking and defending," but both managers were in agreement on the TFCA MVP.

"I thought Tristan Borges was their best player," said Gheisar. "He was able to stay composed
on the ball, consistently active and busy, and was dangerous going forward."

"Tristan Borges and Robbie Boskovic were our best players as they defended well and attacked
efficiently on the day," added Neely.

Neely indicated that his young charges have quite a bit of work to do on the training ground,
but said many of the lessons would take time to be absorbed, and require the right situations
for his team to improve.

"[It was] unacceptable work rate and competitive edge," said Neely. "The players have to find
a balance between pretty football and ugly defensive work."

"These types of challenges are difficult to re-create in training, however a fierce day of training
will show what is required when defending counter attacks and trying to stop it at the source."

Gheisar was proud of the possessive play his side displayed, especially in very high temperatures
and muggy conditions, and spoke to a gathering momentum for the Azzurri.

"It was an extremely hot day," he said. This is always difficult, and it was for both teams.
We managed to keep the ball for most of the point of the match so we reduced chasing the ball."

"Our team had a great defensive performance and kept a clean sheet, and we will helpfully take
this momentum and work rate into our elimination cup game against ANB," he added.

Vaughan and ANB square off in the quarter final of the L1 Cup on Thursday July 23 at McNaughton Turf,
Maple, before Vaughan meets Windsor Stars at McNaughton Turf on Sunday July 26 in matchweek 13 play.
Kickoff is at 7 p.m.

Toronto FC Academy is away to Sigma FC in matchweek 13, playing at the Hershey Centre
on Saturday July 25, 4 p.m.
