Clippers and ANB settled on a 1-1 deadlock after a thrilling 90 minutes in Kingston during matchweek 12 play,
with Belrum Vartanian (39') opening the scoring for the visitors, and Toni El-Asmar (56') levelling it just
before the hour mark.

"We had been working hard in training all week, but there was no way to prepare in time for the heat wave
that occurred this day," said Kingston head coach, Christian Hoefler.

"After donating the first goal against to ANB, the players were determined to make amends and battle back,"
he added. "Bringing on Joey Pineo in the second half to add to our attacking play led to us eventually
evening the score."

"Travelling 3.5 hrs and playing in terrific heat took a toll on the players," said ANB assistant coach,
Marcelo Almeida.

"Biggest challenge was to put away opportunities presented in the first half, but poor touches and
great goalkeeping kept Kingston in the hunt."

Indeed, in post-match commentary both managers were suitable impressed to focus on the contributions
of Kingston net-minder Navi Sidhu.

"Navi Sidu made some point blank saves to keep Kingston in the game, especially in the first half,"
said Almeida.

"[He] kept our side in the match and made some key saves throughout the game," said Hoefler, including
four clear cut goal-scoring opportunities."

"ANB's #9, Jason Mills, was lethal up top and vibrant all match," he added. "Much of the attack went
through him."

Forward Belrum Vartanian got the opener for ANB, operating from a liberalized winger position.

"He scored the only ANB goal, and created many chances playing in an "off-wing” position," confirmed
Almeida. "But we missed a breakaway opportunity just before the final whistle to keep the game tied...
ANB could have come home with three points."

Both teams return to the training grounds to work on finishing and prepare for their upcoming quarter
final fixtures, but must also keep an eye ahead to matchweek 13.

ANB travels to Victoria Park, Brampton in matchweek 13 to take on Pro Stars F.C. on Saturday July 25,
7 p.m. kickoff.

Kingston also travels on Saturday July 25, heading to L'Amoreaux Park, Scarborough to meet Master's
