Sigma solidified their third place position in the men's League1 Ontario 2015 standings after matchweek eight,
defeating Kingston Clippers on their home turf after strikes on either side of half-time by Jordan Stoddart (35')
and Alex Halis (59'), and a clean sheet from Triston Henry.

"We were coming off a tough midweek loss so it was an important match for our team," said Bobby Smyrniotis.
"We knew that Kingston would be very good tactically, and a resilient team that can create chances on the counter.
Our team prepared well and we executed our game plan well under what became very warm and humid conditions."

"Sigma is a very well run program and their players had great technical ability and game awareness," said Clippers'
head coach Christian Hoefler. "We had great opportunities to finish on goal, but this did not come by easy.
The defensive organization of their side was tough to break down."

For Sigma, an improved offense was the order of the day from the coaching staff, and Jordan Stoddart met the
requirement before the half, despite some great work from the Kingston net-minder, Max Materne.

"In the first half [Materne] made two key saves on attempts that could have easily been goals while the second half
saw him make another four such key saves from in close," said Smyrniotis. "We created a lot of clear cut chance
in the first half and wanted a goal in the first forty-five. We were close on four seperate occasions before
Stoddart put us ahead."

"In general we controlled the flow of the match and had eleven clear scoring opportunities beyond our goals
and in this game we had to do a better job at finishing then the game earlier in the week."

Alex Halis added the second goal for Sigma just before the final thirty minutes, but it was the work of one
of the team's creators that Smyrniotis chose to highlight.

"Richmond Laryea was a very important player in the midfield on the day and his movement going forward was
excellent," he said. "This was evident the many times he put our attackers through, and especially on our
second goal - unselfishly laying the ball off to Halis for the finish. He had a complete performance
on both sides of the ball."

Hoefler highlighted the attacking work of players Julian Piccioli and Eric Koskins, and the collective work
shown by his side to stay in the match.

"Once they scored the second goal, the challenge to get level in the match became a difficult task," he said.
"We did not give in and I am proud of the players for their desire shown in this match."

Third place Sigma meets second place Vaughan Azzurri on Sunday June 28th, 2 p.m. at McNaughton Turf, Maple.

Kingston has a heavy schedule ahead, playing Thursday June 25th, 9 p.m., in the L1 Cup vs. Vaughan Azzurri
at the 1000 Island Sportsplex, before meeting Pro Stars F.C. on Saturday June 27th at Tindall Field
(Queens University), 7 p.m.
