Master's FA Saints suffered a 4-0 loss to reigning L1 Cup holders Vaughan Azzurri in 2015 L1 Cup Group A action.

Vaughan stalwarts Jonathan Lao (18'), Joey Cicchillo (34') and Matthew Stinson (43') effectively put the match
out of reach by half-time, as Master's had their technical staff (37', 39'), and player Michael Bershov (59'),
dismissed within a 20 minute period.

"Our players had to play without both coaches, who were removed from the field," confirmed head coach
Junior Groves. "[Our standout players were] goalkeeper Mark Kamstra, who put on a show as we had only one
senior defender - Mike Bershov - starting the second half. Farzan Mirzazadeh also played a very strong game."

Both head coaches highlighted the work of Vaughan midfielder, Jonathan Lao, with Groves particularly impressed
by his control of the midfield and fluid movement, and Vaughan head coach Carmine Isacco pointing out his central
player's control of tempo and match management.

"Breaking down a compact team and dealing with the counter [were our biggest challenges]," said Isacco.
"The early first goal, and third goal before half, were key and allowed us to manage the game."

But Isacco also saw room for improvement.

"We will continue to work on defending the counter and breaking down compact defending," he added.

The Azzurri - currently second in the League1 Ontario standings - returns to league play this Sunday June 21
at Vaughan Grove vs. north Toronto rivals, Woodbridge Strikers, 7 p.m. kickoff.

Masters also has very little time to rest, meeting league leaders Oakville Blue Devils on Sunday June 21
at Sheridan College, 4 p.m. kickoff.
