Durham United F.C. and Pro Stars F.C. clashed in the 4 p.m. fixture yesterday at Lamport Stadium,
with Durham walking away with the points after Matt Stowell and LeShaun Young grabbed their first
tallies of the season.

"The first key moment for us was scoring the first goal two minutes into the game," said Durham
head coach Sanford Carabin, "which settled us and gave some early confidence. A second goal
midway through the first half then changed us, as we started getting complacent and allowed
them to dictate play for remainder of half."

"A couple of very good saves from our goalkeeper Ben Cowman in the early second half allowed
us to stay two up and helped us to see out the game," added Carabin.

"I thought our best players tonight were our back four ( Jacob, Lashaun, Joe zupo, Bruce C) and
gk Ben Cowman. They were very organized and composed. They won 95 per cent of their 1v1 battles
defensively and were pivotal in our build up play in attack."

"I thought their best player, especially in second half, was their #10. He was influential
in the ability to link their defense to attack, always looked dangerous in transition and gave
the final pass ( through ball) in many of their attacks."

"The main challenges we faced were our team fitness and the playing surface," said Carabin.

"Lamport is a max dimension field with a worn out surface, which required the players to cover
large spaces. Players are still not at full fitness and having to open the season on this pitch
made it difficult."

"We will take a lot of positives from the game," concluded Carabin.

"A clean sheet, good defensive organization and a lot of good individual performances.
We struggled late in the game with match fitness and ability to retain the ball in possession
and will address these immediately in training."
