Halftime Entertainment: A woman named Pam, a survivor of cancer, is presented with a pink TFC goaltender kit. A new contest for an HP printer is held asking three children to draw the picture of the TFC player they are given. After 10 minutes, the winner is decided by applause from fans but with one being no louder than the others, all the contestants are given the prize package. There's also the usual pizza slice and Drumstick ice cream giveaway. Also a Scott's Lawn Lounge seat upgrade. There was no mini game of local kids nor Loopyball--just as well on tonight's wet field.

Attendance was announced as 18269 which is more than 4000 less than a sellout. Besides those empty seats, there were also many season ticket holders that didn't show up for this cold and rainy midweek night game. The weather was cold. It rained off and on throughout the game including at the time off the Penalty kick and at the end of the game.
Man of the Match (who is always a TFC player) was announced as defender Justin Morrow who played well in defence and as a winger on long runs.
The goalie's adapted the wet weather with Bendik making at least two punch outs and Deric smothering some easy ones.
Jermaine Defoe missed the Penalty kick. I wonder if he subliminary wanted to miss it to hasten his departure from the team after only one season. Dynamo did their best to get him off. Argueing with the referee, standing in front of the ball, making a substitute before the kick was taken, and a good five minutes before the kick was taken and the rain picking up to its hardest just before the kick were all a distraction.
TFC also had two goalpost strikes and some shots over the bar and some great saves by Dynamo goalie Tyler Deric as well as his good clearances of backpasses. TFC attacks were continuous in the second half especially after going up a man.
Michael Bradley while there was a break in the action came over to the sideline to tell off a ball boy to throw the ball faster when there was a throw-in.
TFC now must win on the road. Dynamo are now back in the playoff race with tonight's win...just one point behind TFC. All the Eastern conference teams have now played 31 games. TFC and Dynamo used up their last game-in-hand. TFC had at one time four games on most of their rivals. Dynamo have almost a better chance as they have two home games and only one of the road--their last game of the season against weak Chicago Fire. TFC is away to New York Red Bulls, then home to Montreal Impact, then away to New England Revolution. Red Bulls are holding fourth spot, Impact won't only put in a half effort against their TFC rivals, and Revs will be trying for a higher place to get a better playoff draw.
This result took me by surprise. I though TFC would win because they were on a two game home winning streak, it was a cold weather teams against a warm weather team; Dynamo had two midfield starters (Boniek Garcia and Luis Garrido) away on national team duty with Honduras and defender Jermaine Taylor away with Jamaica; Dynamo were using their second string goalie after a season ending injury to Tally Hall; Dynamo have a terrible road record. As the game wore on I became even more confident because TFC were given a Penalty kick and even though that was missed they still were a man up from the 54 minute mark. TFC had come from behind 2-0 to beat Dynamo 4-2 on July 12th...I thought with these circumstances they could do it again.
Kyle Bekker turned down the invitation to the Canadian National team to play for TFC for their playoff drive. Jonathan Osorio was deliberately not picked for that reason. TFC players that did go were the now bench riding defender Doneil Henry and non first team players goalie Quillan Roberts and midfielder Manuel Aparicio. Only player missing from their lineup was forward Gilberto who'd picked up an injury and was a late scratch.
There has still been no mention of season ticket renewals for the 2015 season (just for new fans to join the waiting list). This strategy may backfire as now the chances of making the playoffs look bleak.
Much of the parking lot on the east side is torn up for the stadium expansion. I hope they build a lot more washrooms so the lines won't be so long.
I took the wrong bus out of here. I thought I'd get to Union Station before the Air Canada Centre let out from the Toronto Maple Leafs home opener. Nope. Huge traffic jam with limosines and parked cars pulling away.
TFC have only one more home game for the regular season. It is against Montreal Impact just like last year's final weekend game. The stadium should be filled as more travelling fans coming to repay last year's Impact season opener in Montreal with busloads of TFC fans.
I arrived at the game early enough to get a TFC team picture postcard from sponser HP Printers. On the way out I put my hand in a cooler to take what I thought were free double AA flashlight batteries but they were Rolaids antacid rolls--how appropriate after tonight's game!
