2 min...ANB Jason Mills rescues ball on end line at 10 yards and rolls ball back for ANB player to shoot from 15 yards that's blocked.
6 min...VA Gertiesingh rush on right and rolls centering cross but defender clears on edge of box.
7 min...VA Amato receives pass from 40 yards downfield and VA Pearce 22 yard low shot up middle is blocked by sliding goalie at 15 yards.
8 min...VA De Luca receives throw-in on left end line and 15 yard cross is caught by goalie in middle at 2 yards.

ANB goalie Ali Ghazanfari at 15 yards stoops over to pick up ball but Gertiesingh takes it off him and rolls 12 yarder into empty net. Ghazanfari was injured on the play and needed treatment.

Attendance was about 60 on this very cold early evening with a strong wind from the west. It got dark between the halfs and there was a doubt the lights would turn on in time—7:00pm. They did just as the players were coming back from the dressing room.

Referee Justin Tasev gave out five cards that I counted—all but one in the second half as the game got rougher as it wore on.

Best non-scoring chances were at 43 minutes when VA Joseph Amato received a pass on left in the clear and his quick 20 yard shot has goalie fly over to right and push away. 76 minutes had an ANB defender whiff on a clearance attempt of a high bouncing cross from the right and the goalie came forward to punch the ball forward to prevent a VA player from heading in a 5 yarder. VA Philip Makinde then lobbed the 22 yard rebound just over the net. 84 minutes had ANB Peter Quattrociocchi recovered a ball when VA defender Kamal Miller slipped on a clearance attempt and the goalie made a point blank save at 15 yards. 90 minutes had an ANB player cross from 20 yards on the left and ANB Raheem Edwards make a bicycle kick from 15 yards down the middle that the goalie leapt and palmed the ball over the bar.

Vaughan were playing without their York University players again today as they'd played yesterday against U of Guelph at home and won 4-1 and were away in Hamilton today to play McMaster U. Vaughan had also played last night and secured a very important 5-0 win in Cup competition. Today's game they didn't have head coach Carmine Isacco (he is also the coach of York U) so assistant coach Patriice Gheisar. Vaughan used only four of their starters from last night's game. Tonight's goal scorer Darren Gertiesingh scored two goals last night—both appearances as a starter.

ANB finishes their 16 game league schedule with a record of 6 wins, 4 ties, and 6 losses for 22 points. Today's win flips them into fifth place over Windsor Stars who have 20 points in either 14 or 15 games*. Most encouraging is their finish—in their last eight league games they have a record of 4 wins, 3 ties, and only 1 loss.

Vaughan finishes their 16 game league schedule with a record of 8 wins, 3 ties, and 5 losses and 27 points for third place. Their season has a good chance of continuing because of their standing in Group B of the Cup competition. They are co-leaders with one game to play that still has to be scheduled—Masters FA.

*The number of games Windsor's played depends on if they are punished by forfeit for not playing today against Woodbridge Strikers. They played less than a night ago against Vaughan at a field less than a quarter of a kilometre away. I guess the league doesn't have a hotel sponsor yet. The excuse I heard from a Strikers official was that Windsor had phoned to say they were too banged up from last night's game. I saw two players from the Strikers leave for the parking lot so it couldn't have been very much notice. Oooh Windsor! Sounds like excuses like when they were in the CSL league.
