Attendance was about 80 on this hot and humid early evening with the temperature falling as the game went on.

It took awhile for ANB players to learn how to spring the offside trap but before the end of the first half they got their timing right and had quite a few through ball chances left, right, and center.

Ali Ghazanfari earned the shutout for ANB with a key saves. Best of them was at 69 minutes when DUFC Morey Doner rolled a pass forward for DUFC O'Neil Mars who got away a rolled cross along the left end line past a defender who pushed him over and injured him. DUFC Malcolm Kenlock blasted a 5 yard shot down the middle that was stopped point blank by Ghazanfari and Kenlock got away a 6 yard rebound blast wide right of the post. A goal scored right at that moment may well have turned this game around. Ghazanfari's parents were camcording their son (so that's why the cam was trained just on the one goal). His mom said this was his debut for the ANB senior team after two years with the Under 16s. Shutout = good start!

The game was rough with a lot of tough checks. ANB defender Anthony Smith had a way of ensuring that ANB were awarded plenty of goal kicks. I thought it was him alone that won three in the first seven minutes by pushing DUFC forwards off the ball including a two handed shove that flipped a player over—all uncalled. DUFC Jordan Hargrave had to be subbed out near the end of the first half with a leg injury on a tough check. When Tony La Ferrara was ejected for argueing the rough play including (all that I could hear)..."or somebody's going to get hurt..." the tone was more a prophecy not a gangster movie threat. O'Neil Mars was injured in DUFC's best chance but the game didn't stop as he had been pushed into the endzone when he fell.

I counted seven Yellow cards given out by referee David Di Pasquale—four to DUFC.

The win flips ANB over DUFC into 7th place. Their record improves to 3 wins, 2 ties, and 5 losses for 11 points. They've played only ten games which is the fewest game of any teams in the league. DUFC's record falls to 2 wins, 4 ties, and 6 losses.

DUFC can't use the reasoning that they were tired because their Friday night game was cancelled after only 2 minutes because of a thunderstorm. Today's other game—Toronto FC Academy vs Cataraqui Clippers—was cancelled for an undisclosed reason. (TFCA undefeated—Clippers only team that hasn't won a league game). These cancelled games may cause a problem as the Cup Final which is supposed to end the season (probably played the weekend after Thanksgiving). There are no league playoffs so they aren't an absolute must to finish the LEAGUE season—just the Cup group games have to be done.
