Attendance was about 50 for this mild night's game. It's now already dark by the time these 9:00pm games begin.

Sigma opened up the game by controlling the first 20 minutes. Masters then took over for the next 5 minutes and scored their two goals. The game was fairly even after that. Sigma took over in the last 15 minutes and scored once and many of their chances were similar to the goal they did score—lob ball in from center line or the wing and have guys charge in for it. Masters goalie Shane Lopez had a few key punch-aways and catches during that time.

Referee David Barrie gave out four Yellow cards (two to each team) that I counted in a game that got rough in spots and a few guys on each team were subbed because of injuries on tackles.

The result at first glance was a surprise to me. I had seen these two teams play a League game on June 21st and Sigma easily won 5-0. One thing to explain the difference was the roster of Sigma had changed completely. When I got home and counted from that day's game sheet, I saw only four of the eighteen on tonight's roster were listed. I'd asked at the last Sigma game I attended where a few players were and was told that 40 from their system had gone back to (post secondary school). Tonight I could only think to ask about (former MLS Toronto) FC player Emery Welshman and a team official said he was trialing for a club in Germany.

I did recognize one of Sigma's replacements in defender Tevin Wynter who I watched earlier this year play for Toronto Lynx of the PDL. That's a league that uses almost exclusively US university/college attending players in their offseason. An official thought that Wynter had not been a Sigma academy player except for a few camps and was through with school. Wynter told me he was finished school and now has the time to fit in playing for this team. His experience will float him the top for leadership to help the young players now on the roster.

This was a Cup game in Group B. A five team group with each team playing four games. Sigma could have clinched one of two semi-final spots with a win tonight. Their record in the group falls to 1 win, 1 tie, 1 loss. Masters stays alive with the win and climbs to 1 win, 1 tie, 1 loss. Woodbridge Strikers lead the group with 2 wins and 2 losses but they've played out and could be passed by two teams. Vaughan Azzurri are in the best position with two games to go with a record of 1 win and 1 tie. Sigma finish their Cup games next Wednesday with a road trip to Windsor. Masters finishes their group games with a game next Wednesday against Vaughan Azzurri.
