Toronto FC Academy's Marco Rodriguez has been named League1 Ontario's Week Two MVP, earning himself the
award after netting the first goal in TFC's 1-1 draw with Kingston Clippers.

Rodriguez scored a free kick from 35-yards out, past Clippers' keeper Thomas Daechsel, a shot made with
a plan in mind.

"It was a little hard to shoot with the field not being the greatest," said Rodriguez. "I shot the ball
trying to make it take an early bounce before getting to the keeper, and it came off."

Wearing the captain's armband on the day, Rodriguez takes being a leader on one of League1 Ontario's premier
clubs with a high degree of professionalism.

"It's an important role, and an honour [to be a leader on the squad]," said Rodriguez. "It helps that I'm
one of the older players within the academy."

Currently TFC sit fourth in the standings, on five points and, in the eyes of Rodriguez, expectations are high.

"Knowing the quality players we have on the team, seeing them in training, and playing with them
everyday – the goal we're striving for is to win a championship."

As for himself, having earned a place within TFC, there's only one end goal on Rodriguez's mind.

"Personally my goal is to make the TFC first team," said Rodriguez. "That's what every player
in the academy wants."
