Woodbridge Strikers Nicholas Chiarot has been named League1 Ontario's Week 1 MVP.

The honour comes after a two goal performance in the Strikers' 2-1 season-opening
win over ANB Futbol Academy.

The University of Northern Kentucky midfielder goes down in league history, becoming
the first League1 player to score multiple goals in a game.

Two goals that are still vivid in his memory.

"The first goal came from a little mishap in the middle, we recovered the ball and
I received a through ball from Hilton [Mcpherson] that I took down and put over the goalie,"
said Chiarot. "On the second goal, our striker Armin [Tankovic] took a shot from the top
of the box. The goalie parried it to the side, but I was able to get there quick enough
and put it by him."

Winning a National Championship with Northern Kentucky in 2010 is a standout moment
for Chiarot.

However, having been with the Strikers from the age of fifteen, success in League1
Ontario for both the team and himself is of significant importance.

"I believe we can push for a really high position in the league. It's the first
season and nobody really knows where they sit, but with the great start we've had
so far I believe we can go all the way," said Chiarot. "As for myself, I just want
to keep performing, keep on producing at a high level and helping out the team
with goals, assists and good overall play."

Currently sitting top of the league after a Week 2 win - defeating Masters FC
by a 2-0 scoreline - you can catch Nicholas Chiarot and the rest of the
Woodbridge Strikers when they host Sigma FC on Sunday, June 15th at Vaughan Grove,
kickoff at 7PM.
