Halftime Entertainment:...The video board which was having some technical problems with part of the screen burnt out showed TFC players replacing amateur coaches for kids soccer practices. There was also enough time to have another three minute game between kids from the Toronto High Park soccer team in the center circle. All kids were probably under age seven. There was no holding their positions except for the goalies with all the kids chasing the ball. Host Rachel once again interviewed a play right in the middle of the game. At least this time they had a more appropriate song then the Benny Hill theme--it was "Love Generation" by Bob Sinclair or most of us know it from a lottery commercial.

45 min...TFC Jonathan Osorio GOAL...TFC Andrew Wiedeman runs down left wing and sends low cross from 18 yards on left that TFC Reggie Lambe steps over while pressured by defender at 6 yards on left post and Osorio stops ball rounds sliding SS Osvaldo Alonso and gets away 6 yard shot that deflects under sprawling goalie at 3 yards and SS Leo Gonzalez jumps and scissor kicks on right post to clear but assistant referee Joe Fletcher signalled that the ball had already crossed the goal line.

Attendance was announced as 18766. This was slightly better than the TFC vs AS Roma game in the middle of the week. This game had more empty seats among the season ticket holders rather than the game day sales in the corners. The visitors section (Section 104) was filled with Sounders fans (even more than the Impact fans from their midweek visit to Toronto).

Man of the Match (who is always a TFC player) was announced as Jonathan Osorio. I agree with this as he did score the TFC goal and was threatening the whole game.

A battle of leading Rookie of the Year candidates took place tonight with Osorio scoring his 5th goal of the season to help his cause. Sounders defender De Andre Yedlin is also a strong candidate and had a good game but as a defender he is always in the background and it will be hard for him to win. Tonight he made no mistakes.

This game featured the unexpected debut of the USA team captain Clint Dempsey who surprised the world of soccer by signing with the MLS last week after years in the English Premier League. The MLS paid his transfer fee to buy him off Tottenham. It was unexpected as it was announced just days ago he had a virus and would miss the game or be a late substitute but was the first sub of the night at only 33 minutes because of an injury to Obafemi Martins. He came into the game to loud boos and chants of "Toronto reject" as it was revealed that TFC was in the running for his services except that the league wanted the American captain in a US city so they supposedly stepped aside. He had good dribbling and passing skills and made the defenders block a few shots and the goalie saved one.

TFC jumped for their goal right after the start of the second half and had plenty of chances to tie the rest of the way. Sounders missed their chances to put the game out of reach. The TFC 'own goal' turned out to be the difference but otherwise they played well defensively. TFC wasted lots of opportunities in the offensive end with unforced errors.

TFC Jeremy Brockie had the most chances and misses. He's leaving at the end of the month from his time 'on loan' back to the Australian League. I have noticed in the last month there was no team talk on offering him an extension or signing him like they did with Robert Earnshaw. He's only scored one goal this season in thirteen games.

Sounders goalie Marcus Hahnemann didn't look too good as he was beaten a few times and lucky to have a post, a few defenders, and some poor TFC shooting help him out.

Sounders are a good team but are on the margins of the Western Conference playoff race because of a slow start and they've played less games then other teams and have had injury problems. Their record away from their home stadium with its huge crowds and artificial turf is now 4 wins, 6 losses, 1 tie.

Sounder forward Eddie Johnson scored the first MLS goal at this stadium back in 2007 when Kansas City Wizards beat TFC in their home opener 1-0.
