Winner by audience applause was a man over another man and a woman. Interesting that this was the same contest they had when Columbus was the visiting team earlier this year.

Attendance was announced as 17987. There were a lot of empty seats in the 'good' seats. I wonder if those people knew it would rain or they'd been dissatisfied by the team not winning an MLS game at BMO field in over a year? TFC won their home opener at Rogers Centre this season and an Amway Canadian Championship game earlier this year and a CONCACAF Championship group game last season but haven't had much to cheer about in a long time.

Man of the Match (who is always a TFC player) was announced as midfielder Jonathan Osorio who scored the tieing goal. I agree with this choice just for the goal itself but otherwise Bobby Convey played an even better game with crosses and cornerkicks.

Toronto FC had never beaten the Crew in Toronto before today (their 9th visit to Toronto) and this evens their record in the Trillium Cup to one win each with the decider to be played in their only visit to Columbus on August 17th.

TFC's forwards Robert Earnshaw is still out with a hamstring injury and Danny Koevermans has been injured most of the year.

Chants of "We want Diego" rang out at 60 minutes when TFC Ashtone Morgan fumbled a ball knocking it out of bounds. That was probably in frustration for the promised new players on the transfer market that TFC is supposed to sign.

Crew gave up two stoppage times goals last week in their loss to New England Revolution in a home game.

Two late goals for TFC like the game against FC Dallas that earned the 2-2 tie and had the lasting consequence of sidelining Richard Eckersley for months who injured himself celebrating Daryl Russell's tieing goal.

The driving rain really favoured TFC in the last 20 minutes. It was falling down but a strong wind was blowing to the north in the faces of the Crew goalie and defenders. They can't rely on this every game to help them out! The worst of the rain let off soon after the game ended but I stood during the Reserves game because my clothes and the seats were soaked.

Good thing the worst of the rain didn't fall until the end of the game. I was at two instances of rain halting games--both in 2011. TFC had their Canadian Championship game against Vancouver halted when they were behind 1-0 and that was replayed months later with TFC winning. Later that year in the CONCACAF group TFC were behind 1-0 against FC Dallas and they replayed that game the next day but this time Dallas won that game too.
