Attendance was announced as 19221. The corners of the stadium were full which meant a large walk up crowd but many of the more expensive seats on the opposite side of the field were empty which means many of the season ticket holders didn't show up. There was a threat of thunderstorms and up to 25mm of rain forecast for today first announced in the middle of the week which may have kept people away. Yeahhhh or the TFC record over the last year has worn out a lot of people's patience. The rain started, stopped, and restarted throughout the second half although there were even periods of sunshine.

Man of the Match (who is always a TFC player) was announced as Jonathan Osorio. I'd agree with that as besides scoring the TFC goal he had a lot of good runs and passes. Before the game injured-again goalie Stefan Frei was announced as the Esquire (watch company) Player of the Month for May for his community service including buying season tickets to donate to charity. Esquire awards are often given to injured players who have a lot of time on their hands.

TFC actually played a great game today and deserved the applause they received at the end of the game. They were down to ten men from the 39 minute mark of the first half. They continued to outplay the Union for most of the game. Defender Darren O'Dea made more saves on his slides and key headers then goalie Joe Bendik had to save. The Union didn't look threatening for most of the game until they overloaded the left wing and sent in some crosses until the last 15 minutes.

TFC made a sub in halftime putting in Ashtone Morgan for Luis Silva. Defender Morgan was necessary after having Doneil Henry sent off near the end of the first half. I was expecting that TFC would go into a defensive shell by taking off a scoring threat.

Danny Koevermans was subbed on at 85 minutes for Jeremy Brockie who'd only come on at 60 minutes. While a forward-for-forward swap is not unusual, I expected that with a slim lead to protect the sub would have been loading in another defender to helf the team hang on especially with the team's notorious record of giving up leads in the last minute. I felt the team was cornered by teasing for weeks that Koevermans would be back in action for the first time in eleven months then saying earlier this weak that he'd injured his other knee then the day before announcing that he was available to play. With the team not having another home game until June 29th it would be another long delay for fans to see him in person. He drew a great cheer when he came on but only had a few harmless touches.

TFC one again can't hold on to a lead. That includes a 1-1 tie against the Union April 13th when TFC gave up a 93rd minute goal to Jack McInerney soon after a set piece when TFC was also playing a man down. TFC now haven't won a league game in their last eleven.

Tomorrow's game between Chicago and DC United could push TFC further down the table. TFC's next game is on the road in two weeks against DC United who have also only won one game this season with less ties than TFC.

The Osorio goal was well taken and should hopefully replace the endless replays of Robert Earnshaw scoring early in the season and doing his front flip to celebrate.

Jonathan Osorio, Doneil Henry, Ashtone Morgan, and Kyle Bekker played for the Canadian National team on Tuesday in Edmonton against Costa Rica. Darren O'Dea was away midweek for Ireland but was left on the bench in their game against England.

Jack McInerney scored for the 10th time this season in MLS and is the leading goalscorer in the league. The PA announcer mispronounced his name in both the team introduction and announcing his goal. The guy should have done his homework looking over the MLS game guide. it's: "Jack Mac-IN-ern-ee".

Today was the first time in seven years that I didn't see game day programs on sale. I found this year's programs very repetitive and it won't be a big loss to me if there won't be any more published.

Union goalie Zac MacMath wore a kit that looked very similar to the TFC 2012 uniforms including the shoulder stripe. It was almost the same shade of red as TFC so close play in the Union box was confusing to watch.

Stefan Frei's picture was on today's ticket continuing a jinx this season. His recent injury had him bumped as back up goalie for teenager Quillan Roberts. Frei has not played a minute in an MLS first-league game this season.
