Attendance was about 120 on this extremely hot and humid afternoon with a bright sun in the west. The referee allowed a water break at 23 minutes when KWU Jack Warburton was down for treatment for an injury.

This was the most exciting game I've attended this year just beating out the MLS Toronto FC vs FC Dallas game when TFC scored two goals in the last 10 minutes to earn a 2-2 tie. I had been talking to the PA guy and said I hadn't seen the Lynx score this year forgetting their season opener; a 3-1 loss. I missed their next home game where they won 1-0. I was saying this right after the time KWU took a 2-0 lead soon after the Lynx missed yet another goalscoring chance and KWU finally made them pay. Cue the comeback. After the game I saw Canadian/FIFA legend Dick Howard coming out of the game and he said there were three or four 'world class' goals scored today so I knew it wasn't just my tinted glasses that saw an exciting game today.

Both coaches looked like geniuses with key second half subs. KWU Zedro came in to start the second half and earned a goal and an assist. 57 minutes subs Kowal scored two goals for the Lynx and Wilde drew the Penalty kick when the KWU team was flustered.

Best non-scoring chances in this game were at 29 minutes when KWU Sergio Carmargo on a give and go shoot a 12 yarder from right that was blocked by the sprawling goalie. 34 minutes had Lynx Lloyd Crist take a 48 yard freekick from the left sideline that Lynx Henry Moody headed an 8 yarder from the right that the goalie palmed over the net. 48 minutes had Crist rush in from the left and rolled a 25 yarder from the left that the charging Lynx Jon Parolina slid and shot wide right from 6 yards. 50 minutes had a Lynx defender make a goal line save after KWU Evan James had his shot blocked after taking too long to set up a shot. 58 minutes Lynx Macca Wilde's cornerkick from the right had Lynx David Muir head downwards from 10 yards and the ball bounced over the net. 61 minutes had KWU James blast a 22 yarder that the sprawling goalie blocked and James then headed the rebound wide left from 15 yards. 70 minutes and Lynx Wilde's cornerkick from the right had Lynx Leigh Veidman get a 6 yard kick from the left blocked and Lynx Moody flew to head a 5 yarder just wide left of the post. 90 minutes had Lynx Kowal blast a 15 yard shot down the middle that the goalie sprawled to block in the center of the net and the rebound was cleared. 92 minutes had KWU's last chance when Will Grocett had a 45 yard freekick from the right that had a KWU player get a header and another kicked the ball over the net but the flag was up for offside anyway.

KWU players included three that worked their way through the TFC Academy. Sergio Camargo was on that team last year. Both Jarek Whiteman and Jay Chapman played with the CSL team SC Toronto last season. That team is sitting out the 2013 season.

K-W United (Kitchener-Waterloo) played in Hamilton as the Hamilton FC Rage last season.

Lynx record climbs to 3 wins, 1 tie, 3 losses this season with seven games to go. They are in 4th place--3 points behind River City Rovers but have played three games less than that team. They need to finish 3rd or higher to make the playoffs. KWU's record falls to 2 wins, 1 tie, 6 losses.

This game was the largest attendance I've seen this year for a Lynx game that wasn't the special School Day game. There was a small group of flag waving fans with a drum in the north corner of the stands cheering. I realized they were cheering for the Lynx and the PA guy used his binoculars and ID'd them as from the Lynx U-16 team. Biggest cheer was when the Lynx goalie took a goal kick that landed in the open garbage can over on the center line sideline.
