Attendance was about 100 on this warm and damp evening. It had rained three times early in the day including the drive over here but no rain fell during the game and their was actually a bright sun in the north west until 72 minutes.

Referee Scott Dekker gave out four Yellow cards to the Lynx all in the first half then one Yellow to FCL in the second. Some of the Lynx cards were just for complaining about calls. The Penalty kick call pretty much put the game away. I felt the half should have been over.

The Lynx played much better in the second half after making three substitutions at halftime.

Best chances that didn't score were at 11 minutes when the Lynx goalie made a save on FCL Denver Spearman from 8 yards on a shot from the left then pushed the ball out of bounds as Spearman collided with him but the referee awarded the Lynx a freekick. 50 minutes had FCL Tom Owens take a 40 yard freekick from the left and an FCL player headed the ball just over the bar from 8 yards down the middle in a crowd of players. 55 minutes had Lynx Callum Home blast a 40 yard shot on the left that the diving goalie pushed just wide left of the post. Lynx Danny Iannacito took the cornerkick that followed and Lynx Stephen Hoyle headed the ball just wide left of the net from 8 yards on the right. 62 minutes had Lynx Anthony Novak take a midair 22 yard shot down the middle that the goalie caught. 65 minutes had Lynx Home take a shot that hit the post after getting to a 25 yard freekick that was lofted into the box. Lynx James Galvani blasted the rebound over the net. 70 minutes had FCL Brandon Beresford blast a low 28 yarder up the middle that the diving goalie pushed wide left of the net in about their only chance of the second half.

FC London move to 2-0-0 on the season both wins by 3-1 scores. I had forgotten until I got home that FCL are the defending PDL League Champions from 2012 so the Lynx should use that as a guidepost.

This was the opening game of the season for the Lynx. They continue their schedule with three more home games before leaving town. Sunday June 2nd vs Chicago Inferno, Wednesday June 5th against Michigan, and Sunday June 9th vs River City. All home game for the rest of the season will be played at Centennial Stadium in Etobicoke.
