Attendance was about 30 on this mild night for this rescheduled game from Friday August 2nd at Centennial Stadium. There seemed to be only one Serb Ultra here tonight lighting fireworks (my report of the SWE game on Friday night had fans lighting flares but I should have said they were actually those family pack fireworks suitable for your backyard).

The game had good open field action even after White Eagles had lost Sahjah Reid who played the lone forward. Defender Andre Orlando and midfielder Nikola Miodrag moved up to form a two man attack. SWE goalie Scott Cliff had to make some great saves or this game wouldn't have been in doubt until the end.

Best non-scoring chances were 15 minutes when SCW Dado Hadrovic blasted an 8 yarder that the goalie palmed over the net. The goalie then had to dive forward to push away a low cross rolled across the box after the cornerkick. 65 minutes had SCW Harris Fazlagic take a low 22 yard kick from the left that the diving goalie pushed forward. 67 minutes had SCW Vladimir Zelenbaba received a centered pass and his blast from 20 yards had the goalie palm over the bar. 87 minutes had SCW Adis Hasecic receive a forward pass putting him in all alone and his 20 yard shot had the sprawling goalie stop at 10 yards. 94 minutes had SWE Kiril Dimitrov take a 40 yard freekick from the right that an SWE player popped up a header on the left and SWE Andre Orlando shot a midair 20 yarder over the net on the last play of the game.

The sports-betting touts were frantic wanting to know how the ejection was decided out so Ennio the PA guy sorted out with the referee at half time. Was it a straight Red? Two Yellows? "Foul language and abusive speech" was how the referee explained the incident to Ennio. I find it fascinating that this is a real concern but you can't bet on who would score a goal (not at this low calibre league whereas English Premier you can one of those guys explained to me tonight).

This result really hurts the White Eagles playoff chances. Their record falls to 6 wins, 11 losses, 2 ties good for 10th place whereas a win would have flipped them into 8th with games in hand on both Astros Vasas FC and St Catharines Roma Wolves. Waterloo's win keeps them in 5th place at 9 wins, 7 losses, 4 ties but moves them 4 points ahead of 6th place Windsor Stars.

White Eagles have been playing a Wednesday-Friday game schedule for the last two weeks. They have a road game on Friday against Burlington and then next Wednesday they'll be back at Esther Shiner for a home game against Toronto Croatia. They'll be pretty tired by the playoffs if they do grab the last spot. Croatia's head coach, assistant coach, and manager were here tonight scouting.

Waterloo had clinched a playoff spot last week but did bring their regular first team players...just that they only had three outfield subs. Strange they used two subs but White Eagles kept their starters playing the whole 90 minutes.
