MIODRAG HAT-TRICK IN SERBIAN EAGLES VICTORY WEDNESDAY........Shooters on top

Serbian White Eagles struck often with a 6-2 victory over Burlington SC, while
York Region Shooters scored late to defeat St. Catharines Wolves by a single
goal, two games in the CSL Wednesday night.

St. Catharines Wolves looked strong in the first half of their final home game
of the regular season at Club Roma in St. Catharines – they have two away games
still to play – but things took a turn for the worse when goalscorer Mohammed
Mohammed was shown the red card by referee David Di Pasquale after receiving
two yellow cards in quick succession for dissent and tripping
at the 40th minute mark.

Playing a man short, the home side continued to play with at least a tie in mind,
but at 83 minutes St. Catharines failed to clear a shot saved by goalkeeper
Matthew Greco and Kadian Lecky struck for the visitors from close range for
a 1-0 lead that held until the final whistle. It was Lecky’s 6th of the season
and third goal in two games.

The win gave York Region Shooters an improved 14-3-1 record for 43 points for
a tie on top of the First Division standings with Kingston FC, while St. Catharines
Wolves are at 7-13-0 for 21 points.

Midfielder Nikola Miodrag scored a first half hat-trick to lead Serbian White Eagles
to a 6-2 defeat of Burlington SC at Esther Shiner Stadium, he opened the scoring
quickly with a goal at three minutes, then two more at 30 and 31 minutes.
Forward Sahjah Reid struck the fourth goal for Serbian Eagles, finding the net
past Burlington goalkeeper Vladimir Vujasinovic at 38 minutes.

Burlington’s goals were scored by James Stamopoulos at 19 minutes and midfielder
Nicholas Lindsay at the 41st minute mark and it was 4-2 at the interval.

the net to make it 5-2 at 70 minutes and Vitomar Jelic rounded the scoring
at 6-2 at the 86 minute mark.

record for 19 points, while Burlington are one below with a 6-13-0 record
for 18 points.
