Orestano gets ball pushed to him and he shoots 20 yarder over the two fallen players into the left side of the empty net.

Attendance was only about 40 with a pregame rain scaring any walk up crowd and then the rain stopped and started four or five times during the game. Unlike BMO Field, umbrellas are allowed so with one hand on my pen and one holding my notebook, one hand on my umbrella, one holding my camera, and one holding my binoculars (five hands so far) I got by--actually most of my pictures were taken between the rain outbursts.

The turning point of this game was the Shooters second goal with shouts from the Niagara bench that West was at least 10 yards offside.

Referee Hassane Rifai kept the game under control despite some hard tackling. He was talking to YRS Gerard Ladiyou and NU Andy Tiedt at 49 minutes after a hard collision near the center line where Tiedt claimed he was head butted (I was only sure that Ladiyou drew a Yellow) and YRS Ricky Herron and some NU players started a pushing match that a group of other players broke up. It's possible Herron was the one involved in the collision. There weren't as many sliding tackles on the wet field turf as I expected in a rough game.

Shooters played a very disiplined game with me not noticing an offside call against them until the 75th minute mark. The coaching staff broke up "The Smash Brothers" (Richard West and Jamaican international Richard Edwards) at 58 minutes by subbing off West. His substitute was just as strong with Kadian Lecky getting a few shots away wide or saved before his two goals and was not called offside once. Shooters tried a few long balls early in the game to charging players that had limited success but tested the Niagara defence.

The win improves the Shooters record to 13 wins, 3 losses, 1 tie and a share of first place with Toronto Croatia and Kingston FC (although at the time of writing I don't know whether Kingston won tonight's game on the road against SC Waterloo to stay 3 points ahead of these two teams). Niagara's record falls to 3 wins, 14 losses, 3 ties and stuck tied in 11th place (although I don't know if Burlington SC won their game this evening against Astros Vasas FC to pull away).
