88 min...Lynx Leigh Veidman GOAL...Veidman gets ball at 45 yards up middle and splits two defenders with a clearance attempt off his body but he gets through to send 15 yard shot low into left corner of net. Inf players pleaded for a hand ball on their clearance.
90 min...Inf YELLOW card...Reed earns it for complaining about a whistle at Lynx 35 yard line.
90 min...Inf Reed is just a step away from connecting on 12 yard slide to try to connect for shot on left.
92 min...Lynx goalie catches ball holding on despite bobble when bumped by Inf Gurson.

Final Score:.....Toronto Lynx.....3....Chicago Inferno......2.....

Attendance was about 30 with 20 of those being Inferno family/fans. It was hot and humid but it started to drizzle between halfs. A hard driving rain started at 62 minutes but had stopped before the game ended.

This was a rough game with referee Ramee Arbaji giving out six Yellow cards (four for Inferno) as well as the ejections. Gilvani and Alvarez were earlier Yellow carded at 38 minutes for pushing each otherthen were ejected three minutes apart in the second half.

Lynx goalie Ben Ur was subbed into the game at 18 minutes when starter Matt Silva pulled a quad muscle.

Lynx had many good chances in the first half but kept having the goalie make stops and defenders blocking shots in the box. Usually this would be frustrating in other games this season but the Lynx kept up the pressure and were rewarded in the second half although they had the risk of counterattacks.

Inferno had only three subs today including a back-up goaltender so faded near the end of the game. They had played FC London the night before with the same number of subs and earned a 1-1 tie.

Best non-scoring chances were at 9 minutes when Lynx Leigh Veidman couldn't draw a Penalty kick when the goalie chopped his knee at 10 yards on the left as he ran over the goalie but he fell over and the ball rolled over the end line. 17 minutes had Inf Jonghyun Son take a 35 yard cross from the left that had Inf Damiem Rolen-Merette head a 5 yarder from the right forward that hit the goalpost and flew left where Inf Gordon Gurson missed a header on the post. 30 minutes had Lynx Macca Wilde take a cornerkick from the right that had Lynx Callum Home blast a 12 yarder that the flying goalie stopped. 40 minutes had Lynx James Gilvany make the goalie save a point blank 15 yard shot and the rebound had Lynx Joshua Portillo hit the crossbar from 8 yards on the right.

The win was only the second for the Lynx this year and first at home. Their record improves to 2-7-1 and are still in last place. Inferno record falls to 3-6-3. They are new team to the league this year. No reason why America's 'Second City' Chicago shouldn't have a second team when Chicago Fire Premier is probably made up of MLS draft picks but 'Fire' and 'Inferno'?--do they have to be named after the same historical event?

The Lynx travel this weekend for two road games. Their next home game is Thursday July 5th at 2:00pm.
