91 min...SWE Miodrag cornerkick from right has defender head ball left through box. A recross is over players and wide right for goalkick.

Attendance was about 100 (a majority were SWE fans) on this cold and windy night with the first of the threatening rain of the day starting right at gametime. The rain varied between a short hard fall to nothing at all and all varieties in between. The game was played two fields over from their other games I've seen 'Field 1'. Field 2 now has a bubble over it but it was partitioned into smaller fields. If this was Field 3 it was identical except most of the portable aluminum stands were located in the north end zone. Many fans brought umbrellas.

All of tonight's goals were scored after rushes and either shots on the rush or passes for someone to shoot after the rush (rather than any set piece goals). Rajovic's second goal broke it open after a second half until then where it looked more likely that TFCA would tie it up. SWE had only brought three subs for the game and one of them picked up a Yellow card at the end of the 1st half while sitting on the bench.

Referee Rich Oliveira had no problems controlling tonight's game with both teams playing fast while looking for a breakaway pass. He only gave two Yellow cards (both to SWE) that I noticed.

Zoran Rajovic's three goals give him 18 for the season and moves him into first place as the league's leading scorer.

These two teams had met just two weeks ago when an injury time goal earned TFC Academy a 2-2 tie.

Tonight was the 3000th game that Ennio Perruzza has announced (soccer and hockey) starting his first game at Toronto's old Varsity Stadium in 1986. His duty was made more difficult tonight as TFC Academy did not provide a roster sheet until well into the 1st half, some spotters called out the wrong numbers as goal scorers, and he was criticized by some SWE supporters for the way he pronounce the name "Rajovic". Plenty of practise reading that name out with him scoring three goals tonight!

Best non-scoring chances tonight were at 5 minutes when SWE Richard West juggled a ball and took a low 20 yard shot that was pushed wide left by the diving goalie. 24 minutes had TFCA Nicholas Lindsay make a midair tap around a defender and take a midair shot from 22 yards that was blocked by the sprawling goalie at 7 yards. 46 minutes had TFCA Joshua Janniere cross from 25 yards on the extreme left that was caught by the goalie in a crowd of players in the box. 72 minutes had the SWE goalie slide out to the left side of the box to grab a loose ball before TFCA Mario Orestano could get to it but they did crash together although Orestano tried to jump over him. After they both signalled they were OK both players collapse from their injuries and needed trainers to help them revive. 92 minutes had SWE Zoran Rajovic bend a 20 yard freekick from the right that the goalie caught over at the top right corner of the net.

I asked around if TFCA staff knew why the MLS Reserves League game between TFC and DC United scheduled for tomorrow right after the main game was postponed. Between Academy 1st team head coach Danny Dichio (who said he thought it was DCU who asked for the delay and it may not be played with the season almost over), TFCA official Ryan Young who said the players were looking forward to that game...five starters in tonight's game (Steven Almeida, Sergio Camargo, Joshua Janniere, Nicholas Lindsay, and Alain Sargeant) played in the TFC Reserves game vs New York Reserves last weekend losing 3-1 and only seeing the sites of NYC from their hotel window. I had looked at the game program on the MLS website before driving here and noticed that TFC has five players listed as injured while DCU has eight so it was likely them who asked to call the game off.

Tonight's result finishes the White Eagles regular season with a 10-7-5 record for 35 points and a share of 6th place. TFCA record slips to 10-6-5 for 35 points also for 6th place with one game to go. SWE now can finish no worse than 7th and avoid playing CSL regular season champs Toronto Croatia in the first round. Some of their officials were here tonight scouting this game.
