NIAGARA UNITED CLINCH PLAYOFF BERTH WITH 4-1 VICTORY...Windsor Stars, London City also win Niagara United clinched the last playoffs spot with a 4-1 victory over Brampton City Utd, Windsor Stars defeated North York Astros 6-1 to end the season in fourth position in the standings and London City completed their season with a 4-1 defeat of Kingston FC, three games in the CSL Saturday. Niagara United’s Rudy Pikuzinski opened the scoring at Kalar Park in Niagara Falls, he drove a direct free kick straight into the net at the 14th minute mark and Mohammed Mohammed headed home past Brampton goalkeeper Jason Lopes off a corner kick to make it 2-0 at 34 minutes. It was Mohammed’s 9th goal of the season. Brampton City Utd scored in their own net for an own-goal to increase the Niagara lead to 3-0 at 40 minutes and Mark Jankovic of Brampton City Utd was shown the red card by referee Manuel Orellano at 41 minutes for Vilolent Conduct. It was 3-0 at half-time. Matthew Cain made it 4-0 for the home side at 80 minutes and at 89 minutes defender Merko Medic struck for Brampton City Utd, a 4-1 score at the final whistle. Niagara United end the regular season with a 10-9-3 record for 33 points, eighth position in the standings for the final playoff berth, and will now meet Toronto Croatia in a quarterfinal game in Toronto during the weekend October 12 – 14. Brampton City Utd completed their season with a 8-10-4 record for 28 points. Wade Allen opened the scoring for Windsor Stars in the game against the Astros at Esther Shiner Stadium in North York, he struck at 22 minutes for a 1-0 lead and defender Emilio Giorgi made it 2-0 12 minutes later. North York defender Jongwon Jung was shown the red card by referee Jeff Fennell just before the break, he was ejected for Serious Foul Play. It was 2-0 at the interval. Astros midfielder Wiktor Janik beat Windsor goalkeeper Anthony Santilli for a 2-1 score at 49 minutes, but Stephen Ademolu increased the lead to 3-1 for the border team at 58 minutes, a picture goal from close to 40 yards, he found the net past North York goalkeeper Alberto Rocha. Giorgi scored his second and Windsor’s fourth at 63 minutes, Ademolu scored his second and Windsor’s fifth at 78 minutes and David Kadoic made it 6-1 for the visitors at 83 minutes, his 7th goal of the season. It was 6-1 at the final whistle. Windsor finished the season strongly with an impressive 12-6-4 WLT for 40 points for fourth position in the standings, which means a home draw in the quarterfinals of the upcoming playoffs. North York Astros completed their season with a 2-19-1 record for 7 points. London City’s Boban Stojanovic struck twice in the game with Kingston FC at the CaraCo Home Field at the Invista Centre in Kingston, the former professional at a high level in Europe scored at 23 and 45 minutes, while Nenad Nikolic scored for London at 36 minutes, it was 3-0 at half-time. London City went ahead 4-0 on a goal by Mahir Hadziresic at 62 minutes and Kingston reduced the lead to 4-1 with a goal at 70 minutes by Mademba Ba, his tenth of the season. It was 4-1 at the final whistle. Kingston FC's Alex Campbell was ejected by referee Decker at the 87th minute mark. London City completed their season with a 7-8-7 record for 28 points, while Kingston FC ended their inaugural campaign in the CSL First Division with a 4-17-1 for 13 points. There was one game in the CSL Second Division Saturday, with Mississauga Eagles FC B and Windsor Stars B playing to a 3-3 tie.
