Attendance was about 80 on this cool night with a wind from the north and the temperature falling quickly.

Toronto Croatia's win combined with SC Toronto's loss tonight ensures they finish in 1st place with one week to go in regular season play. Croatia's record improves to 15-1-5. Windsor stays in 4th place in a tie with York Region Shooters who also lost tonight. Stars record falls to 11-6-4.

Toronto Croatia announced two new players tonight just signed with the club. Josip Bonacin played in defence and he came over from NK Dugopolje from the Croatian Second Division and Josip Roso a midfielder who didn't get into the game even when Croatia was emptying their bench at the end of the game to kill some time. He played for NK Marsonia 1909 who are also in the Croatian Second Division. Bonacin fit in well with the defence tonight.

Justin Tasev was the referee and gave out five Yellow cards that I counted. Since four were to Croatia he drew boos and insults from the crowd.

The Windsor roster listed six substitutes but it looked like there were only four on the bench and two were team officials. They made only one switch and that was to replace an injured player in the second half. A few more players on their bench for fresh legs in their push in the last half hour might have changed things.

Best scoring chances that didn't result in goals were concentrated in the second half when play opened up and Windsor pushed for an equalizer. 60 minutes had TC Tihomir Maletic roll a pass forward from 30 yards down the middle to TC Marin Vucemilovic Grgic who took a low 12 yard shot on the right that was saved by the goalie and TC Andelo Srzentic shot the 15 yard rebound that the goalie also stopped. 71 minutes had WS David Kadoic take a 15 yard shot that hit the crossbar and WS Aaron Byrd head the 7 yard rebound from the left that the goalie pushed wide left off the post. 84 minutes had Vucemilovic Grgic from 30 yards in the middle chip the ball to TC Petar Mingon at 12 yards on the right and he tapped over a pass to TC Boris Tomac whose 8 yard shot off target. 86 minutes Byrd got to a ball being knocked around after a long throw-in and he shot over the net from 8 yards. 94 minutes had Vucemilovic Grgic given a pass on the right and set off on a 2 on 0 and rolled a pass to Tomac who slid and shot wide left from 12 yards.

The scoreboard wasn't working tonight and neither was the sound system (but the microphone did) so there was no national anthem. There's only four weeks to get this fixed before the championship final on October 27th is played at this stadium.

No national anthem played? That makes 0 for 3 this weekend as Hershey Fields in Mississauga didn't have any sound system when the Rogers television crew no-showed. At Esther Shiner Stadium in North York the Rogers crew chose to film this game and their equipment crowded out the regular announcer from the booth.
