Attendance was about 70 people on this cool overcast afternoon with the threat of rain present but it never actually started.

MIA put this game away by 11 minutes with two quick goals. The rest of the game was pretty well even rather than a double digit romp.

Jason Beaulieu and Hicham Kettani shared the shutout for MIA with the substitution coming at 66 minutes just to give Kettani some playing time in a result that was pretty well wrapped up.

Both teams made wholesale chances between 52 minutes and 74 minutes except for the 20 minute mark when MIA Francesco Augustin was carried off by stretcher after he and an Astros player kicked at the ball at the same time.

Referee Jeff Fearnall had this game pretty well under control giving out a Red card and two Yellows to Astros and three Yellows to MIA. Plenty of freekicks were called on each team for less serious knock downs.

Best non-scoring chances were at 2 minutes when Astros Vasileios Liagkos crossed from 22 yards on the far right and Astros Allan Cordon shot a 12 yarder down the middle that the flying goalie saved on the left post. 24 minutes had MIA Maxim Tissot cross from 35 yards on the left into the middle and a the charging MIA Mircea Ilcu jumped and one-touched kicked an 18 yarder that hit the bar and the goalie bobbled but then caught the deflection. 51 minutes had MIA Kai Morton receive a cross from the right and at 7 yards had the goalie fly to make a point blank save and the ball rolled across the box but a defender conceded a cornerkick. 76 minutes had MIA Tissot rush to save a long cross near the Astros left end line and his low cross into the box had MIA Anthony Jackson-Hamel charge and shoot just over the net from 6 yards. 81 minutes had Astros Liagkos beat MIA Kai Morton (who'd played well until then) to a ball on the left sideline and ran downfield and rolled a ball just a step behind an Astros player who fell in the box when he tried to cut back to get to it and the ball was cleared. That same minute Liagkos took a 12 yard shot on the extreme left that had the goalie push the ball off the left goalpost for a cornerkick.

This game was recorded for telecast by a Rogers crew for broadcast on Sunday night on the Rogers Community channel in Toronto. There was no crew out in Mississauga last night which was supposed to be the filmed game but the equipment was being used by crew broadcasting two OHL hockey games.

The result moves Montreal past two teams into 3rd place in the only game in the CSL today. Their record improves to 11-3-5 with three games to be played. York Region Shooters and Windsor Stars trail by one point but have each played one more game than Montreal. Astros stay in 16th (last) place at 2-18-1. Shooters owner Tony De Thomasis was here scouting this game as MIA will play his team tomorrow. He brought his dog into the stands. It was a terrier but not a Yorkshire terrier.

I'd noticed within the last two days that Montreal has had their postponed game with TFC Academy rescheduled for Wednesday October 10th which is in the week between when the regular season ends but before the playoffs start. Montreal has fought hard to get into the top four and earn the playoff home date. They should have finished the regular season with a home game against SC Toronto on Sunday October 7th. I asked at the end of the game Impact head coach Philippe Eullaffroy if he received any consideration from TFC Academy like covering their hotel bill. He held his fingers up into the 'OK' sign which of course is also the number '0'. TFCA has a brand new $20 million facility but couldn't find anyone who knew how to turn the stadium lights on back on September 14th. Once an electrician/technician was called in over an hour later, he had the lights on in five minutes but that was after the game had been called. Sounds like the TFC organization is run on a 'need to know' basis. Yeah the only one in the world who knows how to work the equipment wasn't there. I remember that as I stood around in the dark that night. However my 30 year career in an office may have survived so long because I seemed to be the only one who who could fix the paper copier (well minor to medium problems anyway).
