September 22, 2012 CSL--details of Saturday game (from CSL website)
SC TORONTO NIP KINGSTON 1-0 .....The CSL This Week discusses match fixing - starts Sunday A first half goal by striker Jarek Whiteman was enough to give the visiting SC Toronto three points in a game in doubt until the final whistle at the CaraCo Home Field at the Invista Centre in Kingston, the only game in the CSL Saturday night. Jackman struck early, his 12th of the season in a game reminiscent of the 3-2 SC Toronto victory on August 10, a ding dong struggle close encounter that did not reflect the relative positions in the league standings. Kingston goalkeeper Shane Lopez made an initial save on the 14th minute attempt in Saturday night’s encounter, but Jackman picked up the rebound to find the net for a 1-0 lead. The Toronto team had a distinct edge in the first half and were full marks for being one-up, but the home side fought back and forward Mademba Ba put the ball into the net at 74 minutes only to be called offside. Then at 84 minutes, Kingston hit the post during one of several attempts to get back on even terms. “We were a good match for the Toronto team tonight and I’m proud of the way our players took on one of the best teams in the league,” said Colm Muldoon, head coach of Kingston FC, a team nearing the end of their inaugural First Division season in the CSL. SC Toronto, a team currently in second place in the 16-team First Division bidding for the top spot then the CSL Championship, have been defeated just twice in their 19 game campaign and are 13-2-4 for 43 points, four points behind league-leading Toronto Croatia. SC Toronto have a game in hand. Kingston FC have a 3-16-1 record for 10 points with two games remaining in the regular season.
