Attendance was about 100 on this hot and sunny afternoon.

Referee Alexis Vaughan kept this game well under control. I counted BCU with two Yellows to Stars one. She wasn't falling for any requests for Penalty shots so we didn't get any.

Best non-scoring chance of the game was at 73 minutes when BCU Judah Hernandez took a 30 yard cross from the left that had a charging BCU David Guzman just miss heading the ball from 8 yards and the goalie caught it. I usually have up to a dozen plays that were close but that was the only one today. There were a lot of long range shots and routine saves by both goalies and lots of off target shots. BCU had more chances I would say.

David Guzman was name-dropped on the The Fan 590 The Soccer Show last Thursday when an e-mail from a fan in Peru asked whatever happened to him (in reference to his time of the Toronto FC 2007 team) and the hosts Nigel Reed and Bob Iarusci were stumped (don't they research the questions first or they were answering the e-mail live?).

Anthony Santilli had the shutout for the Stars.

BCU was playing without a lot of their starters. Alex Braletic and Milos Scepanovic were away in Ottawa playing on the Ryerson University team in the Toronto area school's opening game of the season. Pat a BCU executive said the team is still negotiating whether the club could still use these players on their own team if Ryerson has a week off or home game. Andy Garcia is recovering from a hamstring injury and may be out for one more week. Andy Da Silva missed today's game because he had accumulated five Yellow cards this season. Mark Jankovic was away for family reasons.

Things are looking bad for BCU. This was their fourth loss in a row (and second this weekend after losing 3-2 in a road game in London on Friday night). They fall into a tie for 10th place with a 6-8-4 record. Windsor is undefeated in their last six games with 3 wins and 3 ties in that time and move to 5th place with a 9-5-4 record and could grab a home playoff date if they move up one more spot for this year's one game quarterfinal round.

Today was to be the last day of playing at Victoria Park this year. The City of Brampton is beginning a $1.2 Million facelift of this stadium starting immediately. BCU has one more home game scheduled and another home game they have to make up but are currently looking for another stadium to complete the home part of their season. After this game ended, the Brampton and Windsor B teams played in a CSL Reserves League game which Windsor won 3-1. I didn't stay for that as I drove back to Toronto to see the Toronto Croatia vs Niagara United game (report will be filed soon).

Before the CSL game, the BCU U-21 team of the Peel Halton Soccer League beat Milltown 9-0. I didn't get here until the game was almost over but BCU had a 4 on 0 breakaway called back offside when someone ran too far ahead of the ball. Looking familiar over on the Milltown bench was their owner Dino Rossi Jr.--an instigator of the planned rival league 'League 1 Ontario'. He said I was watching their Reserves team and their first team plays in the next level up division and it may be promoted this year to the Ontario Soccer League (if not for League 1 Ontario). Rossi said their league will keep their Reserve teams in a local league to cut down on travelling costs. I could see that working because they wouldn't have to cross the province with a teenage team whose players may have to work or go to school the next day. (After I got home I saw the Milltown FC web site hasn't been updated news wise since May and League 1 Ontario has not updated its site since April. Rumours I heard (although from CSL sources) is that league will not be starting up and the League 1 execs proposed a way of merging some of their teams into the CSL league.

Today's game was being taped by a Rogers TV crew for broadcast on the Rogers Community Channel that night at 8:00pm for residents of Mississauga. Toronto residents saw the broadcast of the August 24th game between Mississauga Eagles and TFC Academy.
