Attendance was about 150 on this hot summer night. I noticed some officials from other CSL teams were here as tonight's game involved the 8th and 10th place teams. Eight teams in the playoffs and only one game quarterfinals this year--it's never too early to scout your possible opposition.

I expected with the early scoring the game might end in a 5-5 tie but play settled down. SWE had the best chances especially in the second half but their timing was off with some give-away passing and a poor choice of places to take shots which also frustrated the crowd.

The stadium had the southeastern most bank of lights working again after weeks of required repairs. I was expecting this might be an off season project for the City of Toronto with their budget cuts.

Referee was Mike Dogar who kept the game under control. Only thing is he was a little fussy with where the throw-ins and freekicks could be taken and ordered retakes a few times which was correct but slowed up the game.

Best non-scoring chances were at 10 minutes when SWE Ivan Stankovic took a 45 yard freekick from the middle down to the left for SWE Nino Velimirovic who tipped the ball to SWE Richard West who shot low from 12 yards and a defender at 4 yards on the right conceded a cornerkick. 26 minutes had SWE Zoran Rajovic take a 40 yard freekick from the right sideline had West flick a 7 yard header in a crowd of players in the box and the ball bounced for the goalie to catch at the right post. 64 minutes had Rajovic take a cornerkick from the right that a charging SWE Goran Vlaski was not quite able to turn a header from 4 yards and the ball tipped wide left of the net. 91 minutes had MEFC Jose Melo take a 28 yard freekick from the right that hits the player wall and a rebound shot from 15 yards has the goalie block and fumble but smother the ball.

The result brings the Mississauga team to 7th place in a tie with the fading Brantford Galaxy. MEFC record is now 7-6-4. Serbia record now goes to 6-6-4 and a tie for 10th with Brampton City United who lost their game against London City last night.
